Advice for Future Students

Hey future RWS 1302 students! For this class, I really advice for you to stay focused and don’t forget the assignments! I know it’s only once a week and it might not seem important, but if you don’t pay attention and commit to doing the homework, you are going to have a hard time. That was my mistake at the beginning of the semester and I missed a few homework assignments. But after that I disciplined myself and took responsibility.

Don’t panic about Tumblr! At first, I was really not excited about using Tumblr, but it really is very easy to use and very friendly as it helps a lot to do assignments instead of having another way or using blackboard. Also, it already puts everything together for the final E-Portfolio. 

Attend class and be nice to your respective instructor!

Advice for Future RWS 1302 Students

Dear further students, My biggest advice is whatever you do, do not miss an assignment, trust me you won't get another chance and they really do add up. With that being said I think you're really gonna like Tumblr, when you write don't worry to much on making it sound so professional, just write what you think and feel that's why it's on a laid back form like tumblr. I advise you to really take advantage of the time you have with the instructor during class, that's the time you have to ask anything, office hours are good for that too, but the schedule might not always work for you. The writing center is important too, but really discuss the rubric she has for you with them or else they might not be of much help to formatting your paper to get an A. Tumblr is also a good way of interacting with your classmates and take advantage of that, you guys are all in this together. Hopefully this will help you in this course, oh and, really pay attention to the readings they can really help you with the big projects and papers.

Advice For Future Students

Hello future 1302 students, my name is Jayson and I will provide you with some advice for this class. On the first day when the professor is explaining all of the work we have to do for the course, it may seem like a lot. That’s because it is a lot. It is important to keep track of when assignments are due so that you do not fall behind because it could very easily happen. Check blackboard constantly if need be to ensure that you are on track with the flow of the course. The big assignments for the class may seem scary too. That’s because they are. The class activities and examples of past students work help with understanding the purpose of each assignment so remain engaged in class and on blackboard. The use of Tumblr is big in this class.Its a great way to stay connected with what your fellow students think about specific readings for the week. Reading responses and topic proposals for the big assignments are posted here. Pay attention to the readings because they help with the assignments you have to do at that time. All in all, this class is very helpful for your future classes and your future careers so have fun and pass!

Future Students

My advice to future students is to do their work and go with the flow of the class. Professor Villa ia pretty cool but she has high expectations for her class. If you follow her rubric and listen to what she has to say you will do well. Don’t procrastinate like I am right now and she will help you do well. She gives out plenty of extra credit opportunities in case you do mess up but she does not make exceptions for any one. It is very important to check your calander often so you don’t forget to turn something in like I did on multiple occasions because every point is going to matter when finals time comes around.

RWS ADVICE

Although you only meet once a week this class is no joke guys. If you plan on getting an A in this class be prepared to read, do research , and manage your time wisely. 

I recommend you go to the writing center as many times as needed it really helps especially for the lit review i used it and it really helped me bring my grade up a bit. Its gonna get  tough but towards the end it gets really fun especially if you're in a group for the AVA project and if your in group i recommend picking the topic with the most information. its gonna make things a lot easier.

I cant stress it enough guys learn how to use your time wisely. the semester is gonna go by QUICK and you really need to be on point most of the assignments are on tumblr but they have to turn in at certain time. So try doing all of them every point counts guys. GOOD LUCK!!!!

ADVICE FOR FUTURE STUDENTS!

Well hello there if your reading this it means you are taking RWS 1302 I am writing this to give you advice on what's to come ahead in the class for the semester. it is a wonderful class you will learn a lot! you might get over whelmed with the work at first but don't worry you will be fine the assignments aren't that bad. the teacher helps you every week with the assignments and with any questions you may have. Ms. Jasmine Villa is a very nice understanding teacher she will help you out don't worry, don't get scared by the way she talks all fast, she makes the class super fun and interacts a lot with the class. 

Now to the assignments just make sure you turn them in on time! don't wait till last minute to start the homework or the major assignment or posts because the teacher can tell. and she wont let you turn them in late. just as long as you pay attention and don't forget about your deadlines you will be fine I promise!  the work may seem like a lot at first but since you work on them little by little through out the weeks they aren't that bad and you'll see that you will have them done before they are actually due. because trust me I am the queen of procrastination and in this class I had no need to do so, because we already had the work done it was just the matter of putting it together, see not that bad right?

oh and since you are reading this you are probably also doing tumblr post, here's an advice for those! look at your syllabus don't forget due dates and times late work isn't excepted and that's what got many people was the time. just make sure you read what ever s assigned and you just write about it. they are never long and don't forget the hashtags and the gif those are very important!! so alright looks like you got this now go get an A!

WELCOME TO RWS 1302

Where you will spend most of the semester interacting with other students!

So here you are, complaining at how summer is over and you must go back to school. [sigh] I feel you. But look at the bright side, your new professor is Ms. Villa!!

Ms. Villa is such an amazing teacher! she is funny but serious and straight to the point when it comes to assignments. This class is a hybrid class, meaning that you will only meet once a week and most of your work will be done at home in sections called modules on blackboard. When I first started this course, I was very confused about how the modules worked, but trust me, you will get the hang of it. Just keep track of the dates the assignments are due and you will be fine. 

like the blue bunny said, DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!!this class is not an easy grade, but it is not impossible to get high scores on all of the assignments, you just have to earn them. you will have major assignments such as the Genre Analysis, Film Documentary, etc. but the one I consider the most challenging was the Literature Review. Just take your time and be assertive when doing your research. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECK THE RUBRIC!!! otherwise, you will be fine. Ms. Villa is very clear when giving the instructions, but if anything is unclear, don’t hesitate to contact her. She will do her best to answer all of your questions!!!

This class can seem a little scary and difficult at first, but if you just give your all, you will succeed! I believe in you!!

Some learning Strategies I picked through out the semester is to read the modules before class so you have an idea of what will be discussed in class and you can be ready to ask questions. Also, get started in the assignments as early as possible so you can go to the writing center and get it revised  it revised, this will increase your chances of getting a higher grade.

RWS Advice

This semester was a great one but it could also be overwhelming with the great number of assignments and deadlines. It could be difficult to keep up with all of the guidelines to each assignment but if you do them well and with time, you should be okay. Here are some tips I want to share for future RWS 1302 students.

Do Not Miss a Deadline- Missing a deadline can knock off points from your assignments. Each assignment in an RWS class is worth several points and you’re going to need all the points you can get to get that A.

Do Not Procrastinate- There are several writing assignments in this class that require putting thought into them simply because you have to know how to structure them and include the key points you need.

Be Specific- One thing I learned in this class was that you need to be specific in your writing. Being as specific as you can will earn you more points and it will also let your professor know your target in your writing as well as the audience that reads it.

Just Have Fun- If you think of this as just another “core class” you need to take, the semester is going to go by very slow and it is going to cause you to lose motivation to do well in the class. Enjoy what you do in the class because it does help your writing. It helps a persons’ writing skills and also how to create new forms of communication.

With that being said, this was a great semester for me. Best of luck to future students!!!
