    Blue for an angsty starter

            THERE’S A THING LAYER OF DUST BENEATH HIS FINGER as it runs over the window sill where he doesn’t sit. there’s a cigarette between his lips and he’s not really smoking it, mostly forgotten it was there. it smelled like morning, the dew and freshly mowed lawn. the world was just starting to wake up while quincy had been up for hours.

there’s a sound behind him, and he turns to see the blonde, still in his house.   “ what are you still doing here ?? “   it’s not the friendliest tone he uses as he take out his cigarette, flicking the ashes out the window. he doesn’t really want her here now. not when he’s got those hollow eyes, holding the deaths of millions of people over the years. they scream, the whisper, they say terrible things. it doesn’t matter the time of day, they tear him apart.

    He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t been eyeing the woman a bit the whole     night. She was absolutely gorgeous --- and, more interesting to him, alone.     He’d seen her mingle throughout the night, but she didn’t seem tied down     to one man, which meant, as far as he could tell, that she wouldn’t be averse     to any sort of advances. He kept his eye on her throughout the night, curious;     and when the clock showed 11:58 and she was still quite alone, he wove his     way over to her, smiled that charming smile of his, and said, ‘ Might I, ah...     offer you the first kiss of the new year, ma’am? ’
