My latest order from @iliothermia has arrived! Look at the lovelies!
Bonuses - all up on The Wall (plus some of his previous stuff - the butterfly print, the green door with the eyes, and the gold lion), and my printer, adorned with the frog, snake, and duck patches.
Desk Squad, feat. Syrneas the crochet plush cat dragon (modelled after my custom progen in Flight Rising), Chase the wooden cat, unnamed handmade beadbot, the Decision Unfucker (d20), a shell found *points out window* over there, stegosaurus friend bought in Singapore for S$5, the Bad Advice Brothers (Kon and Astarion), unnamed pink dragon (bought at PAX 2025) and fox (from in.cube8r), Leaf the Meganium, and my favourite from the early 90s Kinder Surprise gnome collection.
Like a crow stash but for Li'l Guys.
Bonuses: the Li'l Guys hanging out on top of my fantasy/D&D books (including the Tara and halfling druid gifted by @nevertrustanoracle, thank you <3 ):
And a Collection of Moderate Oddities:
(Feat. William, either a stromatolite or a concretion, a sheep knuckle bone found at the farm my brother's wedding was at, a shell I found *points out window* over there, a bismuth tower and pair of watermelon tourmaline slices, a piece of ceramic found at the farm and pottery studio my brother's wedding was at, a barnacle cluster found *points out window* over there, a Cambrian-era trilobite, a ceramic bird bought at the farm and pottery studio my brother's wedding was at, and several feathers found *waves hand vaguely* around.)
So we moved a whole bunch of books downstairs from my shelves (bottom rows of the two 2x4 units) because I was running out of shelf space (and this is just my physical collection, I also have about 300 books in my digital library!). Now my books have so much more room!
...My shelves look too empty now. I must buy more books.
Anyway, the VtM shelf is now only half full, but not for long, because I managed to score the Revised corebook for AU$65 including shipping :D (...And the Guide to the Anarchs, Blood Magic, and Nights of Prophecy for AU$110, including shipping.) Revised collection grows!
(In the mean time, if anyone knows where I can get the V20 corebook in Australia for under AU$100, hmu...)
Was taking more photos of my Tiny Zoo and realised I had animal stuff scattered all over the place, so. Upgraded shelves! Here's how they looked back last August!
Descriptions beneath the cut:
Top row: The Wall as a whole. Still some books and CDs on the red drawer unit, I'm not sure how to categorise the books and I literally. Ran out of CD space in the white boxes. Animal friend: plush corroboree frog on top of the books and CDs on the red unit.
Second row: The main wall part of The Wall. Animal friends: elephant painting (complete with my seven-year-old handwriting on the back requesting the movers be careful with it), gecko sculpture, turtle (mostly hidden behind plants in yellow vase). Close-ups of the Tiny Zoo. Sources: some items from family (the amber birds and silver fish and butterfly are my grandmother's, the small round turtle is a gift from my aunt, the candlesticks from another aunt), the origami elephant was a gift, the hedgehog planter is cheap, the ram head thing is just... family, the art cards are Society 6, the whale card is by a local artist, everything else is thrifted.
Third row: Top of a shelving unit. Animal friends: two wooden owls, flying pig planter. Rest of the shelving unit shows the other two wooden owls, a wooden duck, a teddy bear, a Xerneas, and a giant pink flamingo from ALDI.
Fourth row: Other side! Animal friends: other brass deer, cat picture, blue whale, barnacle shells. And the Collection of Moderate Oddities! Details on the linked post above, with the addition of two very pretty shells and a feather.
Room tour? Room tour! For comparison, here are my bookshelves all lit up last night, and here is how it originally looked! Main changes made were rotating the bed 90 degrees, and moving the desk. Descriptions under the cut:
Image 1: the room, from standing in the doorway. The door to the left goes to the bathroom (which needs redoing). Straight ahead is the desk, bed is to the left, bookshelves, armchair, and built-in wardrobe to the right. The little... credenza thing works both as an entrance divider and as bathroom storage because I have none.
Images 2 and 3: necklace hanger behind the door, and very cool macrame shelf attached to the pole. (It's a pole house. The poles keep the house up.)
Image 4: the shelves and gallery wall. See linked post for more details and a description of the shelves! Little red side table holds electronic and household bits and bobs like chargers, manuals, Allan keys, stuff like that.
Images 5 and 6: looking back at the door, feat. my armchair. Owl bag hangs off the side, and the plant not only disguises the ugly back of the credenza thing, but has a cane if needed. And, some detail of the smaller shelf and a little display thing. The four books in the display thing are my old bullet journals.
Image 7: looking towards the desk and bed. By rotating it 90 degrees from where it was, I could fit my desk against that wall. Still super cozy!
Image 8: bed details. The former bedhead/room divider now runs along the side! Macrame and Hilma af Klint print I managed to get from the AGNSW shop for five dollars.
Images 9 and 10: desk. Beneath the laptop is my sketchbook, bullet journal, headphones, and normally phone. The shell I found at the beach, the gnome figure is a 90s Kinder Surprise toy, and the mug was my grandmother's. The wooden box has my most-used pens and pencils, the lamp faces away because otherwise it's too glarey, and Leaf the Meganium guards all.
For comparison, here is how it looked back in November, and here is after I put the lights on. Moved the desk and a lot of the stationery stuff, which left some big gaps, so. Rearrangement time! You can see the top image in better resolution on Reddit here.
Left shelf, from top: white box with zines, books on art and writing, magazines/periodicals. Red box has stickers, wooden box is empty, tin box has. String. Some room to expand, although it'll require rearranging.
Second down, all the science, science communication, museology, and... sociology, I guess? Left side has the Sagan collection. Bamboo box currently has little bits and pieces I don't know what to do with. Any ideas on displaying pins? No room to expand, unless I move the box.
Third down, music. Bottom shelf, box with letters and cards, and game-related stuff (Zelda and Vampire the Masquerade, which is an interesting combo), a book I felt had to sit with the VtM, and some other large hardcover fantasy books. Definitely room to expand, I want a lot more VtM.
White bins beneath the shelf have craft supplies.
Right shelf! Top shelf is SFF, mostly modern releases. Some room to expand.
Bottom shelf has anthologies and collections and vintage sci fi, treasure box, and childhood favourites. Some room to expand for vintage sci fi, and, uh, childhood favourites will not be expanding, haha.
For the little vignettes, we have:
A Collection of Moderate Oddities, feat. a replica of this li’l guy, either a stromatolite or a concretion, bismuth, a Cambrian trilobite, and a ceramic bird from the place my brother got married at, and a sheep knuckle bone (also from the same place, it did both ceramics and sheep farming), a pair of watermelon tourmaline slices, and a bit of ceramic also from the wedding venue.
And the Tiny Zoo, feat. thrifted elephant, thrifted elephant, origami elephant, amber birds (my grandmother’s), thrifted owl, silver fish (also grandmother’s), thrifted bird, silver butterfly (you guessed it!), thrifted brass deer, and fake plant in hedgehog planter from Big W. Magnet board has assorted art cards from Society 6, Monet postcard from an exhibition, photo of gum blossoms my grandfather took, bookmark with Margaret Olley art, and this piece, plus assorted magnets and a deer paperclip that came with my journal (Tsuki Nara from Notebook Therapy).
