In this optimistic number, I vaguely reflect upon the devices I've cultivated in order to keep my bullshit at bay and/or suppressed, all the while hoping that things will kind of sort themselves out. Enjoy!

Episode 12 is up, with featured independent artist Ryan Dishen! It's a double album special this week as we get weird at a circus and Donnie tells us about that time he swapped spit with Robert Pollard.
We were gonna wear #Ramones shirts but #hottopic was closed...
First performance with some friends of mine in an old country project called The Brass Saddles.
Ryan Dishen - New Windows
Been following Ryan Dishen for a couple of years now and he posted a video of a cover version of Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen and it reminded me to check out his latest album, which is great :-)

Later that night in Tulsa... I became a flamengo. Undercurrent Lounge.
I'v entered some songs from my youtube page into this songwriter contest for fun. Please check out the page and watch a video if you have a minute... it's primarily a popularity contest so I'm unlikely to stand a chance unless some kind "followers" wish to help out by watching and sharing :)
(New Orleans, 2013)
In the land of voodoo, with fire in my icy blue eyes
I dig the rhythm, the static pulse of southern bugs
and buzzing people dancing throughout the New Orleans' streets.
There are those laying low in the comfort of a classic jazz club,
or a cafe with the feel of a home, but not the kind you simply live in,
but rather one where you belong.
I'm swimming in the thickness, my body attempts to drown itself in this
environment.
I swallow nails, whiskey, local bars call me by name and my stomach
lacks protein
I fill it with filth, strum on my guitar with desperation and collect crumbs
and generous offerings of kind words sent my way.
My soul stays guarded and I keep it on a leash but expose it to the crowd.
Can I really be just an exhibit, a zoo animal, a carnivourous beast
thirsty for love and warmth in my surroundings?
Kerouac so cooly watches over me with such a knowing smirk
and I admire his ability to let it all go and not give a shit.
I fear elegance is dead.
We now suffocate in the shallow mainstream.
I need a book and a place to hide.
I need life. I need music.
