My Top 10 Horses Of 2013 - #7 Rydilluc

I love Rydilluc. I watched him get of the trailer at Saratoga last summer and have been following him ever since. 

This year the ill tempered son of Medaglia d'Oro won the grade 3 Palm Beach and the first running of the Penn Mile, both very impressively. His last two starts though have been very unimpressive. An eighth place finish in the Virginia Derby and an eleventh place finish in the Secretariat. Both those were at longer distances and Rydilluc seems to be more of a miler. 

Right now Rydilluc is taking a break and will be returning sometime next year. His trainer Gary Contessa has no immediate plans for his four year old campaign.

Palm Beach Stakes Quick Picks

Running on Gulfstream's Turf at 5:35 ET later today. Because this race doesn't award points for the KYDerby it no longer carries as much significance as it carried last year but it is still being run by quite talented horses.

Race 10: Palm Beach Stakes- Grade 3

Win: #5 Rydilluc

Place & Show: #9 Charming Kitten, #7 Quinzieme Monarque

Eye On: #4 Dewey Square

Rydilluc shows turf experience and the speed to compete at this level; will break fast. Charming Kitten is trained by Todd Pletcher with high percentages; will keep up through out the race. Quinzieme Monarque high Jockey percentage; dropping class from G2. Dewey Square lack of turf makes me skeptical to put him in my top 3.
