dahye isn’t a person that does well with waiting. she’s often thinking far ahead in the future, ready to go on stage and sing her heart out right now immediately, and even the thought of having to sit and wait and watch other people perform before her is basically a form of torture. most of the time she’s restless, walking in circles or talking to anyone willing to pretend to listen to her, but there’s one performance of the night that actually has her silent and attentive with her eyes glued to the screen: aeon.

for several reasons, she finds herself drawn to the rookie group. being familiar with two of the members helped to draw her attention to their debut initially, but once she met them all, she found them to be endearing people, plus their music was catchy, making them an instant love in her book. being a variety hostess often meant her hyping up every group that promotes but her support for aeon is indeed genuine. unlike other groups, where she congratulates them as she comes across them, dahye puts in the effort to seek out the four members once the performances are over, whichever one she finds first.

letting out a quiet gasp once she concludes her search, dahye cups her hands up to her lips and yells out. “yah, moon yeonhee!”

DISPATCH, 04/01/17: Seventeen years ago today, RHYTHMS multimedia conglomerate opened and signed on its first company. Today, the group is celebrating its longevity and success with a special stage and an afterparty! Dispatch reports from RHYTHMS’ official website state that performers will include AEON with “Oh Na Na,” G-ZER0 with “Not Today,” Bliss with “Knock Knock,” and as a special reminiscent piece, silverBEAT to finish the stage with their debut song, “Gee.” The hottest stars will join together afterward for a special party to mingle and relax. Don’t miss out on RHYTHMS: Opening Event, beginning April 1st!

WHAT IS IT? RHYTHMS: Opening Event is, as the name suggests, an event that the admins have created to celebrate our full official opening! The premise is the anniversary of the RHYTHMS company, which in the storyline opened April 1st, 2000; to celebrate, they are hosting a special stage and a party afterward. Interact with your favorite fellow performers and meet your biggest role models from any group, any company at this event!

WHEN IS IT? Members may begin writing threads 12:00 AM EST on April 1st, 2017. The event lasts until 11:59 PM EST on April 8th, 2017. We ask at this time, members begin to wrap up their threads, or at least do not begin writing any new ones.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? Any member of RHYTHMSkrp!

WHAT CAN BE WRITTEN? You may write any thread from (within the rp timeline) the day of the event. This means you can write your group getting ready for it, the actual performance, the party, or your group after the party. This does not mean that you must put all other threads on hold; however, threads involving any of the above will be considered as threads for the event.

the afterparty has aejeong sipping a drink at the bar instead of dancing. it’s nice to see that her members and friends from other groups are enjoying themselves and letting their hair down, but the atmosphere makes aejeong too nervous to go out and actively socialize. besides, with all her time in this industry, it’s not like she has new friends to make besides the few junior groups who greeted her formally.

yet her eye scans the crowd for one performer. if she’s honest, none of those junior groups truly did catch her critical eye. as cordially as she accepted their greetings, her mind was somewhere else, her eyes drifting over their shoulders in hopes of catching a glimpse of AEON’s main rapper.

she’d been thoroughly impressed with his performance on stage. as the leader of a “legendary girl group” or whatever the hell that bin byeoungkeun described them as, aejeong was expected to be proficient in all areas of talent. grudgingly she had to agree with that tyrant there, that it would be best if she could be not only a jack of all trades, but a master as well. and unfortunately, rap seemed to be impossible.

she’d spent countless hours practicing her rap above all else, and to no avail. but there was something about AEON’s “orion’s” performance that made her eyes glint excitedly, lighting up with a plan. unfortunately, he seemed impossible to find after that, and she’d spent the better first half of the afterparty roaming the dance floor looking for him among idols and actors and soloists and staff members.

when she finally spots him, she slams her drink down hurriedly, spilling it a little, and makes her way to him before slowing her pace to something a little more casual, and smoothing her features from hard and determined to open and friendly. it wouldn’t help her case at all if she came at him like a hawk. she taps at his shoulder.

“you’re orion. j-bom. you rapped for AEON.” she begins before realizing she just stated the obvious. clearing her throat, she continues. “i’m park aejeong, leader of silverBEAT. do you mind if i talk to you for a second?”

aejeong quirks an eyebrow, teasingly bothered by dahye’s comment, and flicks her younger member on the head.

“yah, watch what you say, jo dahye.” aejeong’s eyes sparkle with mischief and fondness as she smooths out the gray of her skirt. “besides, your outfit looks almost exactly like mine, so it’s not like you have to imagine much what it’d be like to perform in it.”

she reclines in her chair, waiting for the touchup on her makeup while they prepare to perform their song. she finds herself humming the tune to their debut — gee, gee, gee, gee, baby, baby, gee, gee, gee, gee, baby, baby — and catches herself with a scowl. for someone who hates that song so much, it’s far too catchy for her tastes and stuck in her head even at the simplest tasks.

she grins, a twinkling, playful one reminiscent of an older sister, one that’s reserved only for the silverBEAT members.

“ah, forget it. i can’t be sick of that song before we even perform it; the tabloids are already saying that i’m unenergetic. if i spoil myself singing it before we get on stage, then it’ll be even worse. so don’t remind me of it by commenting on my outfit!”

at this point, dahye’s sure that she can run the choreography to gee in her sleep. hell, she probably has done it at some point, with the number of late night practice sessions she’s endured in the last seven years. needless to say, it doesn’t take long for her interest in rehearsals to wane, and instead she finds herself wandering throughout the venue, looking for anybody and everybody that she can use to distract herself with for the time being. 

sure, the fear of possibly messing up during the performance crosses in the back of her mind as she chooses to prioritize socializing over repeating the same dance moves over and over, but she’s more or less mentally checked out, especially when it comes to a song like gee. her disinterest in performing it has been obvious for a while now, and even rhythm’s event isn’t enough to motivate her to give her 110%. besides, this is networking. as a show host on multiple shows, isn’t it beneficial for her to get to know as many group members as she can?

pre-performance jitters are a symptom that she’s immune to by now, but in a way it’s endearing to see it in the faces of the younger idols that she passes by. nostalgia is a tricky thing-- while she doesn’t wish to relive those days of anxiety and exhaustion, it’s nice to be reminded of how far she’s come, and how far those in front of her have the chance to go as well. her thoughts come to an end when she finally realizes that she’s been staring off for quite a while. “you’re performing today, right?” she asks, wearing her signature dazzling smile as she approaches the vaguely familiar face. “are you excited? nervous?”
