DCA Crackship: RyuElla ⚡️👠
Lo and behold, time for Headmistress Sharotto to shoehorn her love for Persona 5 onto this blog too, oh the joy
RyuElla is my (@queensharotto’s) term for shipping Ryuji Sakamoto and Ella Glaciel.
If you know me and for those that don’t, I’m a huge fan of Persona 5 and it’s characters, especially the game’s protagonist group: The Phantom Thieves.
While I was initially working on the DCA encyclopedia, I decided to do a bit of digging on Phoenix, and her work prior to DCA and: Lo and behold, a Persona 5 fan, even with an OC.
I discussed with Phoenix on which Persona 5 characters the DCA girls would get along with and I stated that while Ella would get along easily with Ann since they both are lovers of fashion, she can relate a lot to Ryuji as both were victims of abuse via their family. Ryuji was abused by his alcoholic father while Ella was abused by her initial stepmother. Ryuji and Ella also have injuries related to their legs. Kamoshida broke Ryuji's leg after the former taunted the latter regarding his family and Ella would receive leg injuries (more specifically knee injuries) from Luciferia if she disobeyed her.
I also had frequent dreams about the two possibly interacting. I had one where Ann and Ella interacted, and Ryuji is brought up. Ella was speaking about her troubled childhood and abusive relationship with her initial stepfamily. Ann would respond by saying that while she hasn't been in a situation like her, she states that Ryuji would know about the pain she suffered, since he too was abused during his childhood. I had another dream about Ryuji and Ella trying to relate to each other and Ryuji would try to comfort her.
Phoenix jokingly refers to this as "The Princess and the Pirate".
I even made the following colored drawing on the left, based on @au-ni-ro’s illustration on the right.
