I can't even believe how long it's been since I've written anything. I never forgot about my blog -- there's just been so much I've wanted to say that I knew I'd need a good chunk of time to write my post, and the life of an exchange student doesn't provide much free time. In addition, I spent what little time I did have during the past two months writing essays and applying to university. I'm so glad to say that I'm (nearly) completely finished!
So much has happened since I last posted. I've visited so many new places, met so many more amazing people, went to Okinawa with my school, changed host families, experienced the holiday season and went skiing for the first time. I've nearly been in Japan for five months, and I can't even fathom how that much time has flown.
I see that my last post was from the end of October. A lot happened in November, but instead of going through all the details, I thought it might be easier and more fun for me to just post pictures. To keep things from getting too exhausting and long, I'll make separate posts about December, my Okinawa trip, changing families, the holidays, going skiing, etc.
Here are the November highlights:
^^This one was taken at Shirakawa-go - an old mountain village I went to with my host family at the beginning of November
^^This one is from an international festival I went to with my teacher (on left) and Sam (the Australian RYE student that was in my class at school). I originally went to help her run her booth, which was selling Hawaiian coffee, but she ended up telling me and Sam to go and have fun on our own. We met tons of people from all over the world. I had no idea Toyama had so many other foreigners!
^^Elliott's birthday party at Aya's house. Aya's family was Sam's first host family. From upper L-R: Sam, Aya, me, Elliott, Satomi (Elliott's host sister).
^^I ended up eating Indian food for my Thanksgiving dinner, which was eaten a day later with Sam and Nick (below). Thanksgiving/Black Friday was obviously bound to be different this year, as there were no sales in the mall, and no pumpkin pie :(
