Ryūki and his Way of Jashin

(Ryūki is novel material (Konoha Hiden) but also appears in the Boruto Anime!)

Ryūki sees himself as the "Second Comming of Hidan" (whatever that means...).

Just like Hidan he didn't like the way the world moves towards peace and feels like it makes all of them weak. So he decided to step in Hidan's footsteps and become immortal.

With that immortality, he wanted to bring death and destruction back into the peaceful world of Boruto. But in order to become immortal he needed to kill many people (it's not stated how many just a "large number"). To achive that he gather a few Jashinists around him and began abducting young girls, by luring them by saying that they would sees decreased family members.

It seems like Ryūki is a little Hidan fanboy, but also sees Hidan as some kind of messiah of Jashin.

Comparison between Hidan's way of Jashin and Ryūki's

We can already tell the difference here between Ryūki's Jashinism and Hidan's Jashinism.

While Hidan was believing that everyone is equal, even respecting other religions to a certain point, Ryūki seems to be only after girls/ women. (I can't tell if Ryūki would continue this way bc he was arrested after he was defeated and never to be seen/mentioned afterwards lmao)

The rituals Ryūki did where also different from Hidan's. Yes, the technique was different too, but Ryūki seemed to make mass rituals, while Hidan makes them one by one and actually taking his time for his rituals, while Ryūki seems to rush through them, not taking his time to pray before and after.

Also Hidan didn't lure people into a trap only to kill them afterwards; he fights them fair and square.

I assume that Ryūki just wanted the benefits of the Cult (immortality, the technique, the support) while Hidan actually believed in it.

Summary (in key words)

- Yugakure is ignoring problems on purpose, leading to even more problems.

- Hidan is a product from that decision and has a lot of trauma and trauma responses

- Jashinism is a negative coping mechanism for Hidan

- Ryūki is a Hidan fanboy, but doesn't understand Jashinism the way Hidan did.

I am a big fan of the idea of Jashin being an Otsutsuki. Damn you Kishimoto for forgetting about this whole religion that can be. So cool. In Boruto considering its all about aliens (so this Jashin hc will fit right in!)
