Hey there Gemgirl! I hope your week has been as awesome as you are! So for the prompt and a couple thing. If you are still doing it, can I request, I can’t feel your heart. Zutara? I know that's kind of the cheesy easy one but I really want to see what brilliance you come up with for it. 😁🤩
Awww thank you J-Man! On the whole my weeks been pretty good! I’m slowly but surely adjusting to having my evenings free again 😂
Ohhhhh you know I’m gonna make this super fluffy 💜
I can’t feel your heart
Katara didn't drink often, but when she did, she found she was likely to overdo it. Despite her best intentions to keep to one or two glasses of wine, Katara found herself stumbling through the palace hallways, leaning heavily on Zuko.
"I'm so sorry," she said, not remembering if she'd apologized already. "You shouldn't have to leave your party to take care of me."
Zuko sighed, but he had a fond, soft sort of smile. "How many times do I have to tell you, I like taking care of you." He carefully held her up while opening her door, gently ushering her inside. "Besides, I didn't want to be at that party anyways. Especially not if you were leaving early."
Katara felt her eyes water and took his hands. "I love you so much. Have I told you that today? I'm- I'm the luckiest girl in the world!"
Zuko blushed, gently squeezing her hands. "I love you too, but I'm the lucky one. C'mon, let's get you to bed."
"Will you stay with me?"
"Of course," he quickly said, even as his blush deepened. "Do you need any help changing?"
She stumbled to the wardrobe and grabbed a silky night slip. "Nope! gonna go to the bathroom and change."
By the time she reemerged, Zuko had stripped down to his shorts and was sitting on the edge of the bed. Katara grinned, staring at him.
"What?" He asked.
"I love you so much," she gushed, rushing forward into his arms. "Have I told you that today?"
He chuckled and drew her up onto the bed, tucking her in beside him. "Yes, but I always love hearing it. And I love you too."
"Good," she said, eyes growing heavy as she snuggled up against him, head pressed to his right shoulder. She was nearly asleep when panic seized her, and she bolted upright.
"I can't feel your heart!" She cried, reaching for his chest. "How will I know your okay if I can't feel your heartbeat?!"
Zuko frowned, studying her. "Can you... normally feel my heartbeat?"
"When I lay on you, yes!"
He smiled and took her hand, placing it over his heart. "Feel it now?"
She had to focus, but she did feel his pulse. "Yes."
"Good." He pulled her over him, adjusting her so her head rested over his heart. "Better?"
Like this, she could feel his heart beat, steady and strong beneath her ear. "Yes."
"Good." He kissed the top of her head. "Get some sleep, Katara."
She mumbled something in reply, already drifting off with his heart keeping time in her dreams.
