A Porcelain Cup

The porcelain cup came in a tea set, the teapot and two cups, itself and another.
The cup was well loved and used. There was a chip on it's rim, dark rings of brown scrubbed away on its inside from the many times it was filled with tea, but always cleaned and brushed clean from dust.
It hardly ever saw its other, always tucked and packed away in storage. The few times it ever did, it was always covered dust and grime.
The owner of the tea set was a bizarre one. Nothing one would imagine to have owned a delicate and dainty set such as they. A tough outer shell of green and purple but squishy and pale-ish on the inside.
They brought them everywhere. The cup would see many of the sights. From many complicated, mechanical farms to the simple house near the ocean.
The cup sat recently wiped of dust, the kettle sat by its side like many other days. As the kettle sat filled with hot liquid, another cup was sat by their side.
The cup's partner finally saw light of day, freshly cleaned.
Their owner was joined by another. Another bizzare one, a magenta and yellow outer shell and squishy underneath.
Both tea cups were filled; the chipped cup that was beloved by its owner and the cup that barely saw light of day.
The chipped cup would often see other cups, some mugs and some made of styrofoam, not just its neglected partner. But the chipped cup would see its partner again, weekly even. And soon, it was no longer the neglected cup, it was a special occasion cup.
Gone were the days of the chipped cup sitting by its lonesome self, now it saw many other cups and its partner, all accompanied by other creatures. A big-eyed creatured had one with a tree on it. Another pale as a ghost had a plain white mug. An older man had a styrofoam cup filled with coffee. A moustached man with a red cup.
One day, its partner sat out on the table, as their owner sat by themself, drinking a cup of tea. The special occassion cup sat, the once hot liquid now grown cold.
This happened a few times more.
Their owner stopped filling the cup and let it sit by itself.
The chipped cup never saw its partner again.
