Okay, but hear me out. Top!Fitz.
No just listen okay.
Because here's the thing. Of course we all love Mack to top. I think Mack loves topping to. But the thing I love about Mack is not just that he's so gigantic, it's that he gigantic and gentle. Mack isn't some brutish, aggressive, demanding, top. Mack is the kind of lover to take his time. To be responsive to his partners needs. Patient. Listening. If his partner wants him to fuck them senseless, he's there for it, more than capable, will gladly comply. But the same is true if his partner needs him to be gentle, slow, all rocking hips and ghosting finger tips, and languorous bruising kisses. Mack doesn't just accommodate his lovers needs either. He enjoys it. It gets him off, being what his partner needs.
Fitzmack?! Maybe like... Fitz worrying that he's too small in stature compared to Mack... but Mack likes carrying him around all over the place and cuddling him every chance he gets. Mack's super into Fitz being tiny compared to him! Besides.. he's not tiny everywhere ;)
“Fitz, wake up.” Mack looked at the man still passed out in his bed. It was already nearly noon, and he hadn’t so much as winked an eye all day. Probably worn out Mack thinks a smug grin spreading across his face.
“Turbo! C’mon man. We’ve got stuff to do.” He tries again, smacking Fitz lightly on the butt.
“Mmmghh.” Fitz whines burrowing deeper in the covers. So clearly faking it at this point. That’s fine.
“I know you’re awake. Do I have to carry you? I will carry you.”
“Ugh, Mack please! I’m so sleepy.” Fitz mumbles around a yawn, bating a had at the air ineffectually. God, he is so beautiful Mack thinks. All sleep rumpled and grumpy and he still has light bruises at his hips where Mack had gripped a bit too tightly.
“Alright, I;m just gonna have to carry you to the shower then.” Mack says before scooping the smaller man up in his arms bridal style.
“Mack!” Fitz exclaims suddenly fully awake, “Put me down! I can walk!”
“Hmm, nah.” Mack replies grinning down at his petite boyfriend.
“You’re the worst.” Fitz grumps, crossing his arms and doing his best to look like he hates being carried against Macks chest. Of course Mack doesn’t miss the way that Fitz wiggles a bit to get comfortable in Macks arms as he carries him to the bathroom.
I'm taking prompts!
I have an itch to write things. Hit me and I'll write pretty much whatever! Y'all know my ships! (also feeling like some rarepairs so... halemore? sciles? samsteve? mchaleinski? derek/chris/ derek/parrish? seriously.. give me mcu/teen wolf rarepairs)
In which Mack seriously questions why he's so attracted to this adorable idiot genius.
I spend every day thinking about the fact that Fitz doesn’t know that Mack is alive. I spend everyday thinking about that and wondering what is going to happen when they are finally reunited. Like I’m so glad that Mack was snapped out of his crazy zombie trance, but like I feel like he’s going to need some time to recover after that. Maybe after the dust settles and everyone begins regrouping and licking their wounds, no one even thinks to let Fitz know that Mack is fine, he’s okay and he’s just recovering, passed out after his ordeal.
Fitz doesn’t even get the question out before May is nodding at him and saying, “He’s fine, he’s sleeping, but.. he’s fine.”
And Fitz lets out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding, and that knot that’s been in the pit of his stomach loosens a bit.
He’s alive. He’s alive.
And Fitz hasn’t fully figured out his feelings for Mack. But he’s knows that there are definitely feelings. He knows that he was devastated when he thought that Mack wasn’t going to make it, when he thought that he’s never even get the chance to work out what his feeling for Mack are. But now…
And Simmons peels herself from his side and says, “Go.. go on.” Her smile is watery, but genuine, and he realizes in that moment that he will never not love Simmons, but he understands that maybe he has been able to move on from loving her that way. Fitz returns the smile, kisses her cheek and whispers in her ear thank you and I’m sorry, and then he’s off, all but running to medical.
He sees Bobbi first, standing vigil at Macks bedside about 5 feet away, back rigid and ramrod straight. He doesn’t say anything , just stands next to her, taking in the miracle before him. Because this, Mack, being here, alive, healthy, is nothing short of a miracle.
Bobbie rests a hand on Fitz’ shoulder, squeezing briefly, before turning to walk out.
Before she can exit fully, Fitz says, “He won’t blame you. He won’t be upset.” and he doesn’t know when he became the one to speak for a comatose Mack, but it feels right. It feels like Mack would want Bobbi to know that. She doesn’t reply, just hums and closes the door behind her.
Mack sleeps for three straight days.
Fitz doesn’t move from his bedside. No one even bothers to try and get him to. Simmons brings him food which he barely eats. Coulson comes and sits with him for a few minutes on the second day, silent. His presence is oddly comforting, even though a part of Fitz is still resentful at how quickly Coulson was able to order the group to abandon Mack to the tunnels. He knows now that there was no other option to make. That’s the burden of being the Director, making the calls that no one else can make, letting everyone hate you, as long as you are doing your job to keep the world safe. It’s a heavy burden, and Fitz is grateful to Coulson for bearing it.
On the third day, when Mack wakes Fitz is actually asleep. He hears Macks voice and thinks it’s a dream for a moment.
“Mack? Mack! Oh my god you’re awake!” and he doesn’t even think about it, just throws himself at Mack and wraps his arms around him.
And Mack, he doesn’t even say anything really at first, just squeezes Fitz tighter to him, whispering Fitz Fitz over and over, like he’s trying to prove this is real, that he’s really awake.
When he’s finally able to say more than one word, Mack buries his face deeper in the crook of Fitz neck and says, “Fitz, I’m so sorry, I’m so, so sorry.”
And Fitz pulls back at that, because no, that’s wrong, Mack shouldn’t be apologizing. And he looks at Mack, really this time, and sees that his face is streaked with tears, and his brow is furrowed and he’s not quite meeting Fitz’ gaze and just no. This is wrong, Fitz never wants to see Mack look like that. Mack is supposed to be all easy smiles, and strength and, confidence and wit, and blunt sarcasm, and shit Fitz loves Mack. Not just because he’d been there for Fitz when he had no one. No Fitz just loves Mack because he is who he is.
“Mack, no- you don’t- er- please don’t be.” And of course Fitz can’t find the words right now. And just like that Mack fights through his tears to offer a smile to Fitz, and says,
“I’m with you turbo.”
And that’s it, Fitz leans in and presses his lips to Macks, light and hesitant at first, and the growing bolder when he feels Macks hand flex tighter where it’s resting at his hip.
They pull apart after some indeterminate about of time and this time Macks smile is full and genuine and just for Fitz.
“Don’t be sorry.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t do that again.”
“Okay.”
Fitz punches him lightly in the shoulder, still grinning. Mack slides over a bit on the bed and moves a hand up to the middle of Fitz’ back, pulling him down onto the bed.
“C’mere.” He says and pulls Fitz’ head down to rest on his chest. Fitz curls himself around Mack on the tiny bed that really shouldn’t even be big enough for Mack alone.
They both fall asleep like that.
No one bothers them. For a little while, just a bit, they get to have some peace.
