-“You don’t have to do that. Really.”
why not both ;)
You didn’t stick around to see the result of the game. Right after the shots fired, a lot more commotion rang out than expected.
Booking it across the deck, you run up the stairs and straight up to the captain’s quarters. Stopping at the door, you catch your breath and then knock, hoping it didn’t sound too imperative.
“Come in.” He beckons.
Gathering your composure, you open the door and walk inside.
It was dimly lit, but enough to walk through without trouble towards the back where the captain sat behind a grand wooden table, looking intently over something.
“Captain, we have a slight emergency.”
He raised his eyes at you, showing he was listening.
“There was a mishap on deck, I think it requires your attention.” You tried to word it as politically correct as possible. You didn’t want to throw the boys under the boat, but really, once the captain sees what’s happened they’ll have done it themselves anyway.
Without a word, he stands up and grabs his long coat off the back of his chair and puts it on. He walks out, quite casually for your taste but you fall into step behind him.
“My mates playing games again?” He asks as he looks over his shoulder at you.
You immediately look up and see him smirking. Clearly, this is something he’s dealt with before. You nod your head.
“Shooting targets off the barrels?”
You nod again. There was nothing he didn’t already know.
You arrive on deck where the ship mates are trying their best to clean up their mess. One sailor in particular was missing.
“You told the captain?” Someone complained.
“She did what was right.” The captain defended. He nodded for you to turn your attention elsewhere.
Leaving the captain to deal with his mates, you wander to the other side of the deck where you find Luhan sitting on the ledge looking out to the sea. Coming up behind him, you take the bandage he was fumbling with and start to address the wound on his head.
“It was a good shot.” He says with a laugh.
“Sure, if you wanna count the bullet ricocheting off the lantern, the cannon, and cutting loose the sail’s boom so it knocks you out. Yeah, good shot, Lu.”
He laughs again, but this time with a wince.
“You don’t have to do this. Really.”
“It’s not the first time.” You sigh. Being on board with the crew for a few weeks really taught you how reckless they are. “I’m curious as to how you survived this long.”
“I had to make it back to you.” He answers, all joking aside. You lean down and kiss his cheek.
“Just be careful from now on.”
send me an exo member/muse and a number from the lists and i’ll write a drabble :)
You still didn’t believe in ghost stories, but the man standing in front of you almost made you believe that people can come back from the dead. Almost. You reach up to touch his face, feeling warm skin under your touch. You slide your hands down his shoulders to his chest, feeling a very solid person right in front of you. You reach down for his hand, ready to pull his sleeve back to feel the pulse at his wrist when he grabs your hand.
“What are you looking for?” he asks with a nervous laugh while fixing his sleeve.
“A pulse! To make sure you’re really here.”
He takes a step back and gives you a grand bow. “Luhan at your service, my lady.” he stands back up, taking your hand and placing a kiss upon it. This time, you take back your hand. “What’s wrong?”
“This is the part where you disappear.” you tell him, recalling the very last time you ever saw him.
“I’m not going anywhere, my sweet. Not unless you tell me to.”
You look up at him, suddenly shy. In almost 10 years he hasn’t changed one bit.
“They all wrote you off as a goner.”
He came closer this time, putting his hands on your shoulders. He was warm and very much real. “Dead men tell no tales.” he says with a laugh. “But I have loads to tell you, so you know that what they said isn’t true.”
This makes you smile. He may have the more interesting stories to share between the two of you, but you couldn’t wait until you both could once again just sit together and talk like you always had.
“I have to go back to work soon. Meet me here like you used to and then we can continue our talk.”
He looked confused at first, almost like he didn’t remember how you two spent all those years meeting here on the docks. But his smile shook away any doubt you harbored.
“As you wish.” he stared into your eyes as he spoke, daring not to be the first to look away.
In the spur of the moment, just in case this was a sick joke your mind was playing, you cup his face in your hands, placing a kiss on his lips. You were met with his hesitation at first, most likely surprised by your action, but he righted himself very quickly and kissed you back, bringing life and reassurance back into you.
“When I asked you to go into port to get some provisions, I didn’t mean find yourself a pretty girl to bring along.” a voice suddenly said. You two broke apart instantly, Luhan turning to speak with whomever interrupted you.
“Apologies, Captain Fan. I’ll get to those right away.”
“No need to apologize. Just make sure to do as I ask.” the other man chuckled. He didn’t seem to have any ill will to the situation.
Luhan bowed his head and the captain left without another word.
“Who was that?”
“My captain. We’re only stopping here for a short time.” he admitted. It seemed like a crucial detail you hoped he wasn’t planning to keep from you.
“How long?”
Luhan noticed the concern written all over your face. He cupped your cheek, stroking it gently to ease your panic.
“Long enough for us to catch up.”
“That’s not long enough.” you tell him, a pout on your lips. No amount of time was enough to make up for what you had lost.
“Oh no?” he laughed this time. It seemed like there was no end to his optimism. He kissed your forehead before speaking. “We’ll start with this evening, and then see what happens.”
When you looked up at him, he noticed the tears that threatened to spill.
“My boat is right over there.” he told you, gesturing to a grand ship just two docks over. “If you can’t find me here, then it means I’m right over there and you can come find me.”
As comforting as the thought was, you’ve never been on a ship that didn’t belong to this port. And as friendly as the captain seemed, you still didn’t like the thought of running into him on your own.
“Just be here, please?” you didn’t like sounding so needy, but after what he’s put you through, you were sure this wasn’t too big of a request.
“Anything for my lady.”
That evening after your shift, you went to the tavern to bring some food back to the pier with you. As you returned to the dock, you see a figure sitting way at the end, just like he promised.
“I’m sorry for being late.”
Luhan turned to look up at you, a smile on his face brighter than the setting sun.
“No, I’m just early.” he took the bag from you so you could sit down. You spread the blanket over the two of you so you could put the food in your laps as you ate. There was a peaceful silence as you two ate and watched the sun slowly make it’s way down the horizon.
“Are you going to tell anyone you’re back?” you ask him after you both finish eating.
“I wasn’t planning to.”
You turn to look at him. “Why? Everyone knew you disappeared.”
“It’s better this way. Just as you said, I’m now a ghost story to them.”
“That doesn’t mean they won’t be relieved to know your alive.” you tell him. He turns to you, a smile playing on his lips.
“You’re the only person that matters to me. As long as you know, I’m satisfied.”
His infinite charm slowly won you over, just like it had all those years ago, but you weren’t ready to settle the issue just yet.
“Are you going to tell me what happened?”
“Hmm?” he hummed, lost in thought.
“When you disappeared.”
“Oh. Well...” he looked away suddenly. Facing the ocean, you got a good look at his profile. He had grown into such a handsome man, but no amount of time away could make you forget the boy you first met. You would be able to recognize him anywhere. “I don’t remember much.” he finally says.
It was not the response you were expecting. “Were you hurt? Did someone come after you?” you continue to ask.
“I don’t know. I guess I blocked out most of that time. All I remember is you and desperately trying to find a way back here.”
A charming answer for sure, but something didn’t feel right.
“I didn’t have to stay here, you know. Everyone told me to leave this place. Travel far and go experience something new. But I knew I couldn’t do that.” It’s not that you wanted to make him feel guilty. It was a way for you to coax him into telling you more.
He looked back at you, a small crease between his brows.
“I’m sorry. Even if it wasn’t here, I would have found you eventually.” he says softly.
“You’ve become quite the romantic while you were gone. I never took sailors to be that type.”
This makes him smile again, bringing him back to his bright and optimistic self.
“I can make it up to you.” he takes your hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to kiss your knuckles. “Come with me.”
“I-” a wave of emotions rush over you, rendering you speechless. Telling him ‘yes!’ was right on the tip of your tongue, but something held you back. The hesitation left you confused.
“The captain and crew won’t mind. We’re always bringing on new people and they stay as long as they like.”
“I think that’s something you should tell them before making the offer.” you joke.
“It’s nothing, honestly. I can let you know by tomorrow.”
You scoot closer to him, placing your head on his shoulder as he wrapped you up in his arms.
omg yay more drabbles from jess ;u; mailboy luhan please ~ (if you're still doing them ahaha)
Yup!
luhan + mailman
The day finally arrived. You had been waiting almost a month for the package to arrive and the tracking info said that it’s currently out for delivery. You didn’t wanna be one of those crazy people who waited outside for the mailman to arrive, but you were nearing that point.
The knock at the door eventually came, and you all but ran to the door. You stopped to catch your breath, but once you opened the door, it escaped you once again.
“Delivery!” the handsome mailman greeted. His smile was so bright, you’d think he was the one receiving the package.
“Thank you.” you stumble out, taking the package from his hands.
“Hope you enjoy it!”
“Yeah. Maybe we can play together some time.”
What did you just say?
The handsome mailman gave you a nervous smile.
“It’s a video game!” you quickly tell him.
“Oh! I love video games.”
You sighed in relief, the tension passing easily.
“Maybe we should get to know each other first.” he suggested.
“Well, you deliver my mail everyday. Surely you at least know my name. You could tell me yours.”
“It’s Luhan.” he told you with a smile.
The next day you left an envelope with his name on it sticking out of your mailbox. The following day, he replied with a note, asking you out on a date.
hi jess i hope you're doing good ヽ(´ー`)ノ for your drabble idea ~ luhan and watermelon (mostly because i miss eating watermelon ohoho)

luhan + watermelon
The thing about fall and winter, was that most of the good summer fruits went out of season. And sometimes, whether it was just cravings or the need to relive summer memories, it put you in a difficult situation.
“Lu, we’ve been to, like, three supermarkets. I think we should call it quits.” you tell him, sinking into you seat. You look over and see a serious expression on his face as he keeps driving.
“Nope, not happening. We are going to find some watermelon.”
And so, after another hour and a half of driving and three more stops, the two of you finally found yourselves sitting in the backyard with a nice bowl of cut up watermelon between you. Sitting in a pair of lawn chairs with blankets thrown over your laps, you two sat munching on the juicy fruit and tried to see who could spit the seeds farther.
“Hey, maybe next summer we’ll have our own garden of watermelon.” Luhan said, bringing a smile to your face.
