Rich: I felt like this episode, and tell me if you thought the same, made Dean kind of stupid. I feel like- he had a couple of comments where he was like confused by his own words or do couple of things and I was like ‘oh, that’s weird but okay, this is an alternate universe version’ and then in the end with the Titanic, now they killed Jo and Ellen- Or you know not killed them, made them cease to- put time right again. And then he makes a comment about the movie Titanic and Dean’s reaction was ‘It wasn’t that bad, you know, Kate Winslet’s rack-’ and I’m like ‘oh’. He’s just a little dumbed down this episode, dialogue vise, I felt like.
Rob: Along those lines, I didn’t understand the scene where he goes to interview that guy who works at the like-
Rich: Case and point, dude. Like, Dean, who is a really subtle interviewer just can’t stop himself from sounding like a hitman.
Rob: He was like ‘You’re gonna die’ and 'Have you ever been a Nazi?’ Stuff like that. I didn’t understand that scene.
Rich: I mean, I understand he was trying to- the logic of it was that he was trying to track the guy’s origin story to see why everyone is dying because they didn’t know it was fake yet. And the thing is, I didn’t mind that Dean says some things that the guy misreads. But then, when Dean realizes that guy is misreading him, he kind of just doubles down. And I’m just- that seems- I don’t know, it just struck me as-

Rich: I will say, I continue to say this, I gotta hurt somebody’s feelings here, which is obnoxious, but I keep thinking that they write Dean dumb. In ways that he wasn’t- that was not present in other seasons. Where like making- Rob: Dumb jokes. Rich: Weird, dumb, sexual jokes that seem frat boy-ish. I don’t know, man. Do you know what I mean? Rob: I agree. I do. No, I do. Rich: There’s a joke he makes ‘oh yeah, I like posse’ or something like that and I’m like ‘man’. Rob: I’m so surprised that got through. Rich: That’s kind of crap we say on this podcast, but not on Supernatural. Rob: Let us make the ‘ashhole’ jokes. Rich: Exactly. It keeps bumping for me. That’s kind of an overreacting- I don’t know, this is- I definitely think that they decided to make dumbed down Dean this season and I’m not sure why. Rob: Well, even Sam doesn't seem to know how to react when Dean is that dumb. You know what I mean? It throws the whole balance off.
