mission log: S1M12 (and catch-up!)
it’s been a while since I’ve actually typed my thoughts up, but after going through S1M12 today i had to update on my progress! i’m still walking rather than running, but i’m already feeling more stamina and loving listening to missions on my way. the goal is to work on my jogging/running stamina on the treadmill this fall/winter once the weather gets worse (canadian runner five here from a notoriously snowy area, so most times from november-march indoor exercise is the way to go).
honestly, this app is already life changing. i can really feel that it will be a huge help when i start running rather than a determined walk. i’m very much a beginner, so i’m starting slow, but i’m already itching to speed up.
a few small spoilery updates from today’s mission (S1M12) and thoughts on the last few that i didn’t do full updates on under the cut:
Season 1, Mission 9: Recovery
The scene of the crime
Sam Yao?? more like
Runner 5: Reporting In
Just ran 2 miles for S1M9. It was both physically and emotionally draining. Thanks app But ignoring that, I feel awesome! Running makes me feel so alive and great.
Zombies, Re-Run - S1M9 "A Voice In the Dark."
Oh. God. Seriously this mission just kills me. Every time, apparently.
So the first time I ran this one was back in early March. I was doing a local 5K, and this was the next mission in the queue, so what the hell. I didn't expect to have ALL THESE EMOTIONS WHILE I'M TRYING TO SET A PR, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. My favorite memory of that race was the moment where Sam screams out "Runner Five, I CAN SEE YOU!" I let out this sound that was half laugh, half sob. I had also just reached the water station. Those volunteers must have thought I was SO GLAD to get that water.
Since this is a re-run, I was looking forward to it again, the way you look forward to seeing a favorite episode of a TV show. I did NOT expect to get caught up in the emotion of the whole thing all over again. I did NOT expect to get brought to tears at "We've got you, Runner Five! You're home!" I knew it was coming. WTF.
Also ran it with my fic in mind that I posted a little bit ago ("Grateful For All This"). I'm still pretty pleased with how that one turned out. Speaking of which, this weekend will FINALLY give me some writing time, and I'm gonna start on that ZR fic. I know people care deeply.
The run itself tonight felt good. MUCH better than Tuesday, less humid. Weeknight runs are about 3 miles, a little more, and then on the weekend I'm going to go for distance. 4.5. Whoo boy. Wish me luck.
Back in the Dark Ages, I used to write fanfic. Stopped a while back. And then I bought what I THOUGHT was a FITNESS APP and these characters started living in my HEAD and who I am as Runner Five started coming alive too and... GAH.
Apparently I'm writing fic again.
