it’s totally unfair to compare the chaos of the plots of s1/2 because they both take place under different circumstances!! s1 is quite structured (find kids-> get anchors-> get the fuck out of there obviously with other silly bits in between like getting the kids back again …but ykwim) and had a specific goal. s2 has a more open ended goal which is basically “save the world,” but there are multiple interpretations on how that can be done and there’s more that goes into achieving that so it’s going to be more of a messy plot if that makes sense ❤️❤️❤️ just my interpretation of it though
.
i love season 2, i really do. and i love season 1 a lot too,
i like how different they are! one season where it’s people who have gone through life and have wisdom/knowledge. yaknow just grown adults who know what they want! and then to have season 2 be a bunch of teenagers that are kinda the complete opposite, i think it’s hilarious! (idk if this makes sense at all but i hope my point still got through :) )
.
i prefer season 2 so much more than season 1, and i know i'm an outlier, but i find it a lot easier to relate to and be invested in the characters in season 2. i'm super excited to see how the season goes!
.
I actually really disliked the monster of the week vibe from early S2. It might just be my obsession with character driven stories but I didn’t feel like there was enough time for major emotional breakdowns and arguments so i’m glad they were able to build up to where they are. It could also be the fact that I can’t picture things in my head so dialogue is the only enjoyable thing to me but either way I’m loving it
.
i LOVE season 2, idk why people were complaining about how its not as good. like i appreciate how structured season 1 is, with the clear find kids -> get kids from ravenloft -> break anchors timeline, but i kinda like the lack of a clear way forward in the new season. i think i saw someone say how it reflects the teenage experience and how the teens have No Idea What The Fuck They're Doing. when i was listening to season 1 i was invested, sure, but i wouldn't say i was hyperfixated until early season 2. i LOVE the characters this season, i love how incredibly flawed and confused they are <33 putting them in a can and throwing them down the stairwell
.
i think this fandom is lucky to not have a lot of discourse and i hope this account doesn’t cause any but i trust us as a whole <3 although i think saying that anthony/the cast don’t know/like where things are going is maybe reading in too hard because of the current intercharacter conflict— i think once the party split actually happens things will get more smooth and i really love the character dynamics of this season
.
all of the teens are great characters this season and i am obsessed with them
