I know the show wanted the moment in 2x22 when Spike shrugged about Angelus killing Buffy to be funny, but it honestly just didn't make sense. Spike went to Buffy in the first place because he didn't want the world to end. Sure, part of it was about Drusilla, but Spike genuinely didn't want the world to fall into a hell dimension. Angelus had already withdrawn the sword from Acathla. If he killed Buffy, then the world would be sucked into that hell dimension that Spike wanted to stay out of. So why did Spike just shrug and leave instead of helping Buffy stop Angelus? It completely undermines him going to Buffy at all.
