ngl thinkin bout the whole flashback scene...
There is a lot of things that we don’t know about what these two together and this situation, such as: how long have they known each other? Did Six Ear want to be revived? Was the process painful? (in the screenie up there she looks so much like a savior, almost like an angel) What is actually his relationship with Sun Wukong? Where on timeline does this take place? And so on and on...
(the rest of the episode doesn’t really clear things up)
And call me bones apologist if you want, but like I kinda Get White Bone Spirit’s side of the whole argument. You give someone their LIFE back and ask them to free you from such a small dark crypt, ask them to help you achieve things afterwards. You made something basically impossible for them and they decide to instead chase after some stupid revenge and throw away the key from your cell. Like dude, I’d bite his head off for that one
She was trapped in there for who knows how long. Probably more than 2000 years. I’m starting to think that maybe the lid of the grave being broken was a sign of her realizing that he isn’t coming for her and, in mindless desperation, trying to get out by herself.
She got through at least one layer, I guess
Does this excuse how she’s treating Six Ear through the entire s3? Nah, not at all. I’m saying this as someone who mercilessly holds that guy accountable for his actions. He didn’t deserve all of that shit at all. But thinking about this from her perspective, in depth, it Is possible to find some semblance of logic in it. The amount of hurt gathered throughout the ages was bound to show at some point, and from an individual like her (she’s a shitty peepo, I ain’t gon defend her against that), of course it won’t be handled well and it will be ugly. Like, we have no idea about the details and implications of her lines in that scene are. Maybe he WOULD have ended up in similar situation like we see him in s3 if he held on to his word, maybe he wouldn’t
The fandom often portrays the White Bone Spirit in this particular way- I feel like- where she doesn’t really have much of an emotional range. There’s not much depth to her. Which isn’t fault of anybody, but I think there is a lot of complexities in her that could make her an interesting character to dissect
like shit’s still sussy as hell ☝
