Sherlock plays the father card twice
Watson Deducing
Kitty and Puppy
Beautiful acting by Jonny Lee Miller in this scene. There are so many emotions on his face that were interpreted in different ways by various people.
me: confusion, shock, wonder, awe, disappointment (I’m not sure I see any happiness there)
some adjectives used by other fans on tumblr: moved, speechless, soft, shook up, blindsided, buffering, proud, horrified
Kitty: I brought a 10 pound spider into his home
some fans commenting at the AV Club/Elementary site: (paraphrased) OMG, I’m the father!

Aunty Watson, Anti-Watson
To answer questions in the tags about Sherlock calling Kitty “the Anti-Watson”: I think many are wondering what he meant. My take on it is the writers reiterating how they viewed Kitty when she first appeared in Season 3. One of the writers said something like, Kitty was more Sherlock than Sherlock. I think he meant impatient, volatile, vengeful, whereas Joan was the opposite; calm, collected, professional (for the most part). I’m not sure if bringing up “the Anti-Watson” label in S5x15 is meant to stir up some tension between Joan and Kitty or not.
