i wish more people would discuss a possible sexual abuse informed reading of deltarune because a lot of aspects of and scenes from the game have new depth with that interpretation. everything from kris’ relationship with the player, carol, and possibly other characters, to weird route, to sword route, to certain suggestive dialogue. it’s subtle but it’s there and worth analyzing. and a finger on the monkey’s paw curls.

honestly it has been hard going from being a kid and exposed to depictions of sexual abuse/child abuse intended to be titillating (mainly in proship spaces and may they all rot), to overcorrecting as a teenager and being averse to any depiction of those topics, to being an adult and working on teaching myself to not just be okay engaging with but to value genuine and sensitive depictions of them... it's hard and it sucks

Asking this in good faith, I don’t understand why Buttman is considered any better than Kyman when Cartman has literally SA’d Butters

that’s a good point and i do have an answer but it’s entirely up to you if you agree with me. kyle and cartman’s dynamic is based off of hatred matt stone experienced as a jewish child making that the foundation of their relationship and making kyle and cartman’s dynamic inseparable from real life antisemitism. meanwhile cartman semi sexually assaulting butters was entirely a joke. the point of the episode cartman sucks isn’t a serious discussion of cocsa, that’s a joke setup to lead into the actual story, and in the commentary matt and trey are laughing the whole time. it’s not meant to be serious, but cartman’s antisemitism towards kyle is very serious and based off a real person’s experiences. i have no problem with people taking the events of cartman sucks seriously, but as both a cocsa victim and a fan of media analysis i personally can’t bring myself to treat it with much gravity.

i finished Catcher in the Rye... I hope this makes sense to say but I feel like is a book similarly haunted by the specter of sexual abuse the way house of leaves is. you either get it or you gont
