Is anyone on the same page with me about the lethal horrible unrequited/forbidden love square that is Obikin and Sabédala. Sabé who loves and resents Padmé. Padmé who loves Anakin, who loves and resents Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan and Padmé who can’t return Anakin and Sabé’s feelings. Sabé and Anakin who spent their whole lives trying to live up to the person they put on a pedestal and they failed—failed, so the only way to fix it is to tear Padmé and Obi-Wan down from those pedestals. The key to understand sabedala imo is that is completely onesided and that is very tragic as Sabé never really fully knew Padmé. She was perhaps under the impression that she knew Padmé like no one else, except maybe other of the handmaidens (i'm convinced there was a lot of jealousy in between the handmaidens), but it turned out that no, she didn't knew Padmé as well as she thought she did, and for her that's probably her biggest failure because her mentality is that of having to copy Padmé in the best of her capacity and sharing similar thoughts and ideas.

But the sort of intimacy Sabé thinks they had is a illusion, a lie, and honestly I think is more interesting and would make sense if she never realized this, not even after Padmé's death. She went on thinking they were soulmates of sorts and changed her name legally, whereas Padmé didn't even tell her she married. For Padmé the kind of intimacy Sabé wanted was impossible because these are her employees and her decoys, they're there to die on her place.

Who Sabé really knew and probably actually fell in love with, was Queen Amidala, not Padmé, because after all the facade and identitiy fuckery, even Sabé got lost in the tunnel vision of Queen Amidala vs Padmé.
