au: jyn survives scarif and feels guilty for the loss of alderaan

Hmm very important to include the parallels of Jyn and Leia having fathers who unintentionally screwed them over in my Rogue One Lives AU. My fic would have them reconnect as childhood friends who met during rebel meetings but didn’t get enough time together and now that they are reunited they work together as commanders of the Rebellion.

Their relationship continues to the New Republic, where Jyn works as a government liaison, often seen walking together with Leia, who confides to her almost everything and has become a cool aunt figure to the latter’s children. Few know Jyn does behind the scene spying and investigation into matters Leia finds concerning and wants to confirm like say a neo Empire faction gaining a foothold in the Senate and beyond.

Jyn being the daughter of the Imperial scientist responsible for creating the Death Star and being a former Partisan who was adopted by Saw Gerrera causes no small amount of derision from centrist senators and Imperial sympathizers whom she hates and has argued with the New Republic senate for including in their ranks. Leia is always ready to lay a verbal smackdown on the idiot who decides to open their mouth to insult her partner because of her family despite her contributions to the Rebellion.

When Bail’s message about Leia’s true parentage is leaked to the entire galaxy, ending her career and alienating her from her colleagues, Jyn feels at first betrayed but she comes to understand Leia for hiding it, ardently defending her from the slanders - even smacking a few people who were too happy to watch Leia’s downfall and played a part in it - and thinks it was worth the suspension from her position.

Jyn comes to Leia’s aid, they have a deep conversation about their family, career, and relationship, and together they begin working on starting up the Resistance.

I think they’d have an interesting dynamic and relationship and could see them having a fling or even short romantic relationship but not anything long term or permanent. They’d butt heads too often. And not in a good way. But they’d be awesome friends! Not necessarily close but honest and not letting each other get away with shit.

Jyn Week 2021 Day Four: Headcanon

Jyn and Leia met as children. Bail and Saw were reluctant colleagues in the Rebellion who disagreed on how much to share with their girls. But Leia knew how to get into the secret tunnels of Alderaan's palace, and Jyn was more than willing to teach her how to shoot.

In the first war council scene in Rogue One Jyn is reluctant to help the rebels until Bail Organa joins the group. She agrees because of him. Because of Leia.

I'm considering writing a fanfic where the rogue one squad survives and continue fighting in the rebellion. And Jyn ends up helping Luke and Obi Wan instead of Han and ends up apart of that group and her and Leia fall in love.
