It’s Chemistry // Best Man Speech // Headcanon // bailey--simmons & drnate-simmons wedding // September 12th.
Nicholas was really nervous, and that made him feel uncomfortable. But he knew he had to take breathe and even find the way to enjoy the moment. Leaving behind the facts he didn’t like to be around to a lot of people, he had to do a speech and something what worried a lot to him: his date disappeared, Nick was really happy to see his brother happy. Happiness is hard to find and his brother finally was beginning a new chapter in his life. Nate deserved finally find his happy end and if in the end he run away and found Bailey in LA, everything was worth it.
In the middle of his thoughts he felt a hand in his shoulder, was his mother. “Is time Nicholas.” And he returned to reality: how the hell he would stand in front of the people and talk? He could barely stood and with nervous hands began to search the pieces of paper he had in his pocket. His mother knowing to his son better than anyone told the magical words. “You will do it fine, because you love your brother like no other person in the world.” With his smile, Nick received the last push he needed to take the glass and call the attention to everybody in the place.
Even feeling the sweet in his hands, knowing the first sound of his voice will be trembling, Nicholas began to say the words what he wrote for Bailey and Nate.
“In this tradition when the best man has to say words about the couple, I found myself in the hard task to talk about something is not easy to understand. Remember, this couple first eloped to Las Vegas and everybody was: ‘What?’ Because we can’t understand love. We, with Nate, are men of science and we are always trying to find reasonable explanations about phenomenons of life. I remember one of my chemistry classes when teachers talked about love as adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, oxytocine. Easy to understand with the reason.
I won’t bore you with this kind of talk what a lab rat like me can give you, even when was my first temptation in this speech. The thing is, we can not understand love. We can feel it. We can see it. We know exists. And the most marvelous thing about love is, you don’t need to understand it, you only need to pay attention.
I remember the first time I knew Bailey, the moment when I arrived to a Taco Bell and I saw her waiting for me. The first thought what I had was how that little person had such a good vibe only with her presence. She gave me the opportunity to know her a little that night, and I could see the love. Not understand the love, only see it. Her smile glowed every single time I told the name of my brother, just like in this moment, as the sign of that unconditional love I discovered with days they have for each other.
I expect Bailey, you know what are you into now. Nate has unbearable jokes, a cuestionable music taste, and an inexistent house skill, he is far away to be a handy man. But what I can tell you is, Nate has a heart of gold and when he says yes, is always and forever. That is the good thing of love, we don’t need to understand it, we only need to see it in Bailey and Nate in that always and forever.
I love you bro. Welcome to the family sis. And we can celebrate now the love what we don’t understand.”
