I write tis in my bathroom because I'm hiding haha...
My grandfather has high blood pressure.
He is on medication for hight blood pressure.
The medication keeps his blood pressure down.
My grandfather has anxiety that he doesn't want to admit that he has and i know it. I know because he does EXACTLY what I do when I have an anxiety attack. He freaks out. He checks things and then double checks things and he sticks to his routines and constantly tries to convince himself that he's absolutely going to die if his blood pressure is anything over 165.
He just made me work harder than my english teacher did all year.
I found FIVE websites that said that his sleeping medication actually lowers blood pressure (BP) and he STILL didn't believe it. Its like a race before bed to make sure that everything will be okay because I think my grandfather might be afraid that he'll die in his sleep. He is awake most nights and falls asleep sporadically but never for more than an hour.
He drives my grandmother insane and she literally has to tell him to shut up. I'm afraid to leave the house because I know that he'll bug someone else about it when I'm not there and to be honest its kind of a debbie-downer situation. And when I am here my nana doesn't get as much of his paranoia. But at the same time its terribly annoying to deal with. And that makes me feel selfish.
He got new medication yesterday and woke me up at 7 AM to help him with it. (It's a patch.) It administers his medication throughout the week and then he has to put a new one on. Unfortunately since it didn't kick in immediately his BP was around 160 so he ripped it off at 6 PM and took two of his old medication which then lowered his BP. He didn't even have it on for half of a day. He didn't even give it a chance.
He moans and groans about how sick he is but in reality- high BP doesn't have symptoms... So what is he complaining about?
Sometimes I fear that my grandfather is going crazy and it's actually really scary to think about. It's hard to think that one of the only people that has ever fought for me might slowly be losing himself to fear, anxiety, obsession and it might even turn into depression. (God forbid.)
It's really hard to explain to people that, I love making fun of his stories and his reactions but, I know that there has to be an actual problem that his doctors are missing. Not necessarily a physical one, but a mental one.
