Sacchi is rife with spoilers but I’ll answer the best I can!!! She thought things would end a Lot differently. She’d convinced herself over time that everything terrible that happened to her was the result of Zanei (basically the Bug Devil) purposefully possessing the people around her and targeting her to make her life hell because she was too holy or something. She thought everything would end with either her discovering the secret to reaching a higher level of being and finally achieving happiness, or with Zanei finally killing her. none of these outcomes happened! instead she ended up having to apologize to a random teenager for trying to kill him <3 gghhh I love Sacchi but so much of her existence is Spoilers….alas……
ZAN,,,MY BOY,,,,FROTHING AT THE MOUTH he has nightmares a LOT. To the point he had to sleep in the same bed as his mentor until he was like 13 just to get any sleep at all. He usually wakes up terrified and thrashing, but the nightmares themselves are more depressing than scary. Most of the time, his nightmares are about people dying, usually at his hands <3 the dread doesn’t really hit him until he’s awake and he isn’t able to discern whether or not what he dreamt was real or not. He also dreams about himself getting hurt or berated a lot, but those don’t make him quite as distressed when he wakes up. He’ll also occasionally have nightmares about bombings, but. those are really common among workers to the point that it isn’t even something they blink an eye at. Pretty much everyone has had at least one nightmare about the nest getting bombed, and it’s not really uncommon for people to wake up and immediately go to the bomb shelters Just In Case. If someone’s not in their bed in the morning, the first place to be searched is the bomb shelters.
REINE OUHDHHHHHHEE HEHE HEH I FUCKIMH LOVE REINE SO MUCH ………REINE….definitely a 10/10 my boy is SO haunted. His past is pretty much his entire life, and even when he’s carving out a better future for himself and others he’s mostly focused on the past (which. fair! this is by no means a fault he has been through a Lot of shit and it’d frankly be insane for him to not care about any of it). He tends to mask most of his feelings with anger, but deep down he is Very shaken by the things he’s seen and gone through. When he was around 11-15ish there was a long famine, and, being drones, he and his brothers were given pretty much no food (cool bug fact’s (/ref) drones irl are the first to go hungry when there’s not enough food for then rest! they get kicked out and left to die! yay!). He had to basically starve himself in order to let his younger brothers have enough to eat, and while he Heavily downplays how bad it was, he. is traumatized as hell! He’s pretty much always in survival mode and doesn’t know how to relax, even when there’s no present danger. This is dubiously canon and basically just fanfic of my own ocs but way way way after the main story he ends up getting with a cicada killer named Sol and having a daughter and for a LONG time he’s unable to be around his own daughter because he still panics at the sight of female paper wasps. he thinks he’s going to get punished or belittled or—worst to him—that he’ll lose control over his emotions and hurt her in an attempt to get “revenge”. He eventually grows and recovers from these fears but. yeah he’s haunted af <3 he also tends to obsess over the past in regard to worrying about what he could have done differently
ouhhh zara….well I mean first of all she’d be Amazed by the existence of photographs but that’s not the point of the question lmao. The picture would probably be of her snuggling up with her brother Zeike….shes Very clingy. She’d probably be fawning over herself, saying how cute she was, etc. She’d be a bit shocked at how thin she was (cough cough famine) but wouldn’t let herself think about it too hard because that’s Sad and sadness is Bad! She’d probably feel a bit weird looking at Any sort of photo of herself, regardless of age, given the drones don’t really have many mirrors. She’s not really sure what she looks like, and she’d def feel pretty dysphoric realizing she’s pretty masculine looking, but. the cuteness would win out and she’d give the photograph little kisses and hug it. She’d probably pity her past self for being so ignorant and unholy—Zara deals with religious psychosis and has pretty permeating delusions that she’s destined to be a goddess who knows everything there is to know and will save everyone from their own sinfulness, so seeing herself before all that developed would probably be a bit sad for her, but not in a “oh this was before I started going through so much religious trauma to the point of developing religious psychosis” way, more of a “oh this was before I knew anything about who I was and what I needed to do to be perfect” way. Zara is arguably the nicest and most sincerely kind character, but she has a bit of a tendency to pity others and see them as ignorant—if not a little dumb—and needing her guidance.
Also not what was asked but I really like this question so
• If Reine were to see a picture of tiny zara he would be SOBBING. If he saw a picture of himself he’d be a lot less moved and probably just default to anger because he wouldn’t know what to think. Too many conflicting emotions
• if Zan saw a picture of himself he’d uh. probably bully himself! Make a joke about how ugly he was, call himself a fatass, all while secretly DESPERATELY wishing he could be a tiny kid again. Leida would be really upset at the way he’s talking about himself and pull the “would you say all that to your younger self’s face” card and Zan would just be like. yeah! I think he’d agree :). the boy does not have a good perception of himself I fear
