What started out as an eventful and fun day turned into a rough night quickly but we got through. Sadie was so good and strong through it all. You could tell she was scared but she put on her best brave face. Ruger slept soundly in my arms or my brothers arms through most of the night except for when he woke up to his sister crying when they drew her blood to send to the lab. Man was he mad at them for hurting his sister. I had to take him out of the room. And my brother truly was a rockstar through it all. Holding Ruger so I could help the nurses when needed. Making sure Sadie was constantly being cared for right down to doing “magic tricks” to make her smile when it was four in the morning and we were all dead tired. It’s scary as hell to see a child you love go through what Sadie did tonight, and heartbreaking when there is nothing you can do to help. Shout out to all the medical staff that assisted us tonight. And also for answering all my unsolicited questions just because I’m in school to be an MA.
The love one can have for a child is truly indescribable and is so much different than the love you can have for someone in a romantic way. I can’t wait to be able to put my parenting skills ive built just helping out with these wonderful kids I call my nieces and nephew to good use with my own children. Fate come knocking, let me have that chance. At least I know I’m good in a crisis.
