Is there a Bees week planned for 2025? I'd love to participate in an event but totally understand if it's not going to be hosted this year

Hello! Thank you for your question and apologies for the late reply! Were just gonna use this chance to announce that yes, there will be a Bumbleby Week 2025!

Now, I know it's probably a bit too last minute for your (and our) taste. Sadly, being just two mods and lives getting in the way, we just couldn't get around this before, but worry not because we have a plan!

In general, rules will be the same as usual: 2 prompts will be chosen by us and the rest by votes on the pool, and the event will be held on the week of 25th March in honor of their anniversary. There's just one thing that we're going to do differently from the past years: we're not accepting new prompts' suggestions.

I know that some of you might be disappointed, but since we're pressed by the time, and also want you to have the time to do everything peacefully, we thought that skipping that phase would be better. Also, on the bright side, since we do keep all the suggested prompts from past years, this is going to be a good chance for less popular prompts to get some attention, and get more variaty! (I'm totally not making this up right now, it was all planned trust me bro)

Jokes aside, I do believe it's going to be a good opportunity.

So, bottom line, there's going to be the Week, and you'll get the pools to vote (plus more details) very soon! In the meantime, please share this post to spread the word! Bye!

Hey I need you to know the diversity in which you draw shoes brings me so much joy. I mean. All your art does but I need to specifically point out your shoes. They make me happy. Idk if you have a process for show studies or you just have a knock for different shoe styles but I love all the shoes you draw. You can simplify complex designs and still have them read just right!!!

Well I've never done a tutorial so here we go!

STEP 1: LOOK FOR REFERENCE

I know everyone says it, but it's seriously useful. Try to find an angle from the side and one from the front. I find the forward facing angle is more difficult. Don't worry about copying exactly, it's mostly for reference (especially for the sneakers)

STEP 2: DRAW FEET

Use simple shapes. Most shoes will have the details be covered up anyway, so don't worry about being too exact. I tend to basically draw a box in front of a triangle

STEP 3: BASIC SKETCH

This is more about making them sit right on the legs/feet. Make sure to put the sole BELOW the foot. Don't put the bottom of the sole at the bottom of the foot (a mistake I have made many times). Pay attention to the shoe heels and the shape of the toe, they'll do a lot to give the right vibe

STEP 4: DETAIL AS NEEDED

Add the actual rivets to the laces, proportion anything that looked wonky in the sketch, add treads to the soles. This is also when you could add buckles or bows to the laces. Don't worry about sticking too closely to the sketch, it's just a skeleton, that's the point

Hiiiii. Can you tell me more about your Hanged Man art? Does that character have a name? Are they an OC? I love the tattoo pattern. What is the darker swirls around the arm- and possibly on the back maybe? It's pretty and I love it!

That's Avis my tiny pirate bastard

None of those are actually tattoos! She's an air genasi and has cloud like patches across her skin and I stylised it for the tarot piece (I still do it a bunch since just cos it looks cool) I'm considering having it that she did tattoo the edges of some of them tho for ~style~

The darker swirls on the arm are the stylised (for the tarot piece) burn scars she has up her arm and across her side. It felt important to have them on show and highlighted for the tarot piece given what card I assigned her

Im still so so proud of a bunch of the tarot stuff I did like a year ago now? I was doing a lil series and never finished it and the hanged man holds up which Is unusual for me to think that
