Finding inspirations or getting work done, seems to be a challenge these days. With the strict lockdown rules and for the safety of others, group projects have been on hold. But does that really mean that one can’t be creating content?
Since the first lockdown in the beginning of the year, I have asked myself how will I get now photos, since I rely on a photographer (or at least a person who knows how to press the shutter). Then it just occurred to me, how about self-timer? I gave it a shot, and was quite happy with the results. Of course it is not the same as having a person with you, who will be able to shoot from more interesting angles but that doesn't mean one can’t experiment.
I shot self-portraits while using the self-timer. At the beginning it felt weird. There’s nobody there to give you directions but yourself. You need to rely on your instincts, and trust yourself. It’s an interesting process.
Even though, I miss working in groups together and creating interesting projects, it did help me a lot in a big way. Moral of the story, don’t be afraid to create content all by yourself at home. It might takes a bit time to get used to it, but after all there are so many creative people, who rely just on themselves and are quite successful. Maybe it would help to view it more as an exercise, than to focus on the results.
The lockdown can take quite a toll on the mind. There are many great cheap equipment to use that would help to get the content you want. And if the result turned out great, who can tell how it was made anyway? Nobody. ;)
