Nora didn’t really want a barbecue. It was honestly, the last thing she wanted when the temperature was a raging 95 degrees and the humidity was so dense she felt like she needed to shower 3 times a day. But it was quite the celebration, she supposed. It had been a long time since she saw her family and they wanted to celebrate her return from New York. So, out of consideration of her family, she didn’t dare interrupt the hustling and bustling as they prepared various home-made meals. She was actually enjoying it a little, watching some kids play in the inflatable pool when she heard a familiar voice. It belonged to a childhood friend of hers and she held back an eyeroll as the other introduced her to from what Nora knew was possibly the only other Asian boy in town that wasn’t related to her. “Hi.” she says tiredly, though she stands up from the wooden picnic table to shake his hand, “I’m Nora.”

daniel let out a sharp sigh, his hands wrapped gingerly around jay’s own that was nearest to him. the other had woken up to a hospital room, and daniel could only imagine that he would be freaked out a bit. “you don’t remember me…? the doctor said that might happen, and that it would be temporary, but…” he sighed once more and sat up straight. “i’m daniel. we’re…good friends. you got knocked out pretty badly in a fight, and…well, here you are.” he offered up a small, but warm smile to the other as if it would help him.

‘ oh. ’ jay blinked his eyes softly as he found himself waking up in a hospital room with his close friend by his side. perhaps the fight had put him through a bad time that made him lose his focus. but thankfully, he was still able to remember everything. it’d be a bummer if he lost his memory over a stupid fight. ‘ did i ? what the fuck happened though ? i mean, why would someone lay his hands on me ? ’ he shifted his gaze slowly towards the other as he wrapped his arms around his figure tightly, ‘ but thank you for being here. i owe you a lot. ’

❝ I'm not drunk ❞ that’s the third time she’s said it in as many minutes, hazy orbs not even really focusing on the person whose bed she’d taken over the moment she’d finally managed to put in the code to their door. in fact, she really isn’t drunk. she’s so fucking trashed that it might as well be a personality trait at this point, something sh won’t admit so easily. though shouldn’t they be used to it by now? how many times a week did she do this exact same thing? this exact same way?  ❝ just don’t talk so loud, mmkay? and don’t move. ❞ she warns as she throws her arm over their waist, snuggling into their shoulder.

After two long months stuck in the monotony of her studies Rina was more than ready to finally blow off some much needed steam with something mindless. While she didn’t have a solid plan just yet there were still a few fun ideas in her mind that all seemed like good options. “What do you want to do?” She questioned the other as her foot tapped impatiently with the built up energy inside of her. “I mean we could go to an arcade, shopping, see a movie, grab some lunch or anything at all but we should do something we’d both enjoy. It’s your call.”

      “hold on, wait, i almost got it.” taibo never thought he would get himself into such a lackluster situation in such a unlike him place. the poor younger man was convinced, by himself, mostly, that it would be a great idea to climb the library’s ladder to reach a book the stranger was trying to get. even on one of the last steps, he could just reach it, and he wasn’t a short man.       he let out a relived sigh once the book was in his hands and he was back on the ground. shyly, he handed it to the stranger with two hands.
