IF YOU HIT THE LEGAL DRINKING AGE DURING THE PANDEMIC

I have some free tips for you.

Do not start your "night" out at midday. Start at seven or eight, eat something first. You'll enjoy it more and go longer.

Do not take your debit/credit/cash cards. Take out a set amount of physical cash. The contactless age has made it way too easy to just order round upon round and tap-pay. You won't realise what you've done until the morning after. If you want a card for emergencies/guaranteed taxi fare/kebabs, have a designated cardholder or a "food kitty" (assuming you trust the people you are with)

Are you used to spirits? No? Then stop ordering whiskey.

Cocktails are stronger than you think they are. Sip don't down.

If you feel unsafe, too drunk, poorly, tired or your group are being dickheads, please ask the bar staff for help. We are trained. We can get you taxis, water, a snack. See if the bar you're in has an "Ask for Angela" scheme or similar.

Your bar staff are trained to keep you safe, not just look good pouring a pint. Please ask if you need help. We want you to have fun, kids. Above all, we want you to be safe.
