List of things me, my carer and friends are doing to survive the record braking high temperatures this year. When all the building are built to collect and retain heat.
We're getting more warning of extreme risk to life.
wait till 12-2am open all doors windows to store up as much cold before drawn as possible.
if you have high up transoms window open them, and then a lower window on the outside side if you can, to make cross breeze.
close all windows after sunrise
Blackout curtains stay closed all day
covering the outside of the glass of windows in foil (like the stuff for behind radiators) be careful not to dazzle main road traffic
if you can't use the foil, block the light and heat from coming in windows with something like straw beach mats instead
Water the pavement put your front door early morning and night to get evaporative cooling, when you have door open. This makes a small breeze and reduces how hot it gets quickly. (I'm using the used washing up water).
Wash a sheet or large towel hang it infront of a fan.
ice in a wide flat bowl in front of a fan
Mop the floors leave it wet, evaporation will cool things down alot
put your feet in bowl of cold water.
Put ice packs on pulse points (feet, neck, chest and wrists)
use large flat ice packs wrapped in a cloth for pets to flop next to. Remember to wet down there ears and necks. And put ice in their water bowl.
(bunny flopped on her large ice patch 🙂)
