T'was supposed to be a Hades Persephone thing because Umbra and Rhea kinda fit. But then it just became this. I didn't intend for a background OTL (pssst, Umbra makes flower crowns and sings for people he likes, what a dork)
I hope that you had a wonderful day surrounded by loved ones :)

Hello, beautiful Julie. Here is your Valentine's Day present. I call it, "Testament to the Fact that I Cannot Write In Straight Lines Without Lines Present on the Paper for Shit." But you can just call it "Letters," for short. I apologize if things seem bolded. Using a quill for the first time was an adventure, and I had no idea how to unbold things. Okay, so you had talked about her being some sort of superintendent, yes? I figured Glynda might end up aware of the fact that Ozpin was in hot water and would try and take matters into her own hands, in a way. I am SO SORRY if I went out of character for Madame SIlvergale, I tried to do what I could. If it's illegible or you're on mobile, here's what it says:
First letter: "Madame Silvergale,
I don’t doubt that you have been made aware of the situation here at Beacon Academy, but in the case you haven’t, here is the long and short of it: Ozpin has been deemed unfit for what was to be his duty to organize the security for the Vytal Festival. James has been chosen to replace him as head of security. And where this isn’t to say that this has been a considerable load off of the both of our backs, and where I do not doubt James’ ability to organize his men to keep the Vytal Festival and all its spectators and participants safe, it should be obvious that the fact that Ozpin’s being unfit to uphold security at the Festival does inspire no little lack of faith in the council as to his right to his position at Beacon. Ozpin is trying his best, his methods are simply less volatile than James’. He prefers to obtain information before he makes any sort of move against an enemy. It, among other characteristics of his, was what made him the most obvious choice for headmaster of Beacon in the first place—they would be wise to remember that. Regardless of whether James’ actions as General saved many people, they should recall that it was Beacon students and staff who had the most success in holding back the Grimm, and, not to mention, acted as first responders—Ozpin’s seat as headmaster of Beacon should not be at stake here. I know that you have some sway over the council, Dorothy, given your position as superintendent. Regardless of whether or not you will, I feel the need to ask for your help, or at least, your validation. Ozpin may not know how to lead people in war, but you and I both know that he knows how to teach people to lead themselves in war. That’s the point of the teams—teaching leaders and followers alike to fulfill their roles, and where he might not have been the first to choose to make four-person teams, where his methods might be unorthodox, his teams have very high success rates in the missions they choose to undertake. Beacon Academy’s mission is not to raise soldiers, it is to train those with the will to defend others the way to defend others. I know you know this, Dorothy, I just want you to let the council know. Fondest regards, Glynda Goodwitch" Second letter: "Dearest Glynda,
How funny it is that the first time you contact me in years is to complain to me to concern me with James’ undertakings again. But I suppose reminiscing ought to be saved for a time where less urgent matters can be discussed. I was made aware of the volatile situation that was in the minds of the council members in regards to Ozpin’s position, and of the recent breach of Grimm in the city. And while I hadn’t asked for the reason as to why Ozpin’s position as headmaster was being questioned (these types of whims come and go in their minds), the intensity with which this one stuck to their minds was quite concerning to me. I hadn’t had the chance to ask why they doubted Ozpin’s competence so heavily, but I had the time to end up putting two and two together, so thank you, Glynda, for having more efficient communication than the council and for affirming my suspicions. I do agree with your analysis of the situation. Ozpin and James, while both great leaders, have both very different styles of preparing the Hunters and Huntresses of tomorrow. But passiveness in a time such as this is not something the world can afford, not something the people can afford to see in leaders. Where Ozpin might not have much in the way of leadership over any large group of people beside his students to worry about, James has an entire army under his command. Doubt spreads quickly, and James cannot afford to be indecisive at this point.Where Ozpin might feel the need to send scouts in to a seemingly empty territory and feel as though he has time to wait for them to return, James sees the empty territory, worries that it might never be empty again, and charges. Reckless? Yes. But the way he sees it, he can obtain information on the battlefield. Not to mention, given how much safer the battlefield is becoming with an age where wars can be fought on a lifeless battlefield with androids (I’m beginning to feel old), he feels that it is easy to determine which will be more costly: sending in robots to fight a lifeless battle, or wait until the battle will be fought on his own front door, close to the people and things he cares about. James is trying his best to defend that which he cares about. He is harsh on people, as the military often is, but he has only the best intentions at heart, I’m sure. As for your request to enlist my help, well, I can promise you my sincerest efforts, but I do not know if the council can truly be swayed at this point. They have begun to side more with James’ view of things—to charge now, while everyone else is out to lunch. I can try to make them understand the dangers that poses, and the value that Ozpin’s teachings have to Beacon students and staff, but I do not know just how much I can do without Ozpin working to appease the council as well. He needs to show them that he knows that the time of peace may be over, and that he knows how to prepare to bring it back. That’s the best I can give as far as advice. Best of luck, Dorothy Silvergale"
