AU idea: Alex is a journalist working on an expose about the reclusive Prince Henry, who spends more time at Balmoral than he does in London. Alex finagles a job on Henry’s staff and is surprised to find the Prince not haughty, but kind, witty… and sad. They get to know each other across several weeks until Alex goes to Henry’s room and Shaan turns him away, claiming Henry doesn’t feel well.
Oddly dejected, Alex goes for a walk. He loses track of time and suddenly the full moon is rising and he’s an hour’s walk from the castle. He thinks he’s going to freeze to death alone in the wilderness when a gigantic wolf appears in front of him… a wolf with gleaming soft fur and sad blue eyes…
Aka Henry is a werewolf that Mary hides in Scotland, and Alex and Henry get the highland romance they deserve.
Another one that is so far outside of my genre but fuck yeah five things haha
ONE: When he's handed the assignment, Alex almost says no. Not because it wouldn't be an amazing opportunity, but because Prince Henry is so boring. He's convinced Henry's reclusiveness is because the monarchy knows putting him in front of the public would probably bore them into calling for a republic.
TWO: The interview process is gruelling. Which is fine; he's applying to be a staff member for literal royalty, and Alex would expect nothing less. The number of questions he's asked about the key around his neck, though—what's the material of the key, of the chain—is pretty fucking confusing.
THREE: When he gets his employment contract, he seriously considers calling his boss and asking if they can change the expose to be about the borderline poverty wages offered by the biggest hoarder of inherited wealth in the world, instead.
FOUR: Henry is funny. He's intelligent and well-read and, okay, he has bouts of depression sometimes, but like... his dad died? That's hardly unexpected. But he treats Alex as though what he has to say matters, and he cringes away from any attempt the people around him make to stand on ceremony (which is good, because Alex is terrible at it).
FIVE: Henry is beautiful. So really, it's not a surprise that his wolf form is, too.
[Send me a potential AU and I’ll tell you five fun facts that would happen in a story.]
