International Sailing Certifications Now Available with Sailors NYC

As most of you probably know - neither bareboat charter certifications by ASA or US Sailing are recognized internationally, especially not in the Mediterranean and in Asia. The reason to that is the fact that the USA and Canada did not sign to approve the ICC - the International Certificate of Competence for pleasure craft operators created under the United Nations resolution 40. ICC’s can only be written through signatory countries to the ICC. So in North America, typically the ICC is written through the Royal Yachting Association out of the UK of which there are three locations – Florida, Toronto, and Halifax.As an alternative one can obtain The International Sailing License and Credentials (SLC), which is a recreational sailing license valid for all yacht charter companies worldwide including Europe and Asia. To gain an SLC, the candidate must hold a national government boating license (NASBLA State Boater License for USA or PCOC for Canada), pass an online suite of theoretical knowledge courses and tests appropriate for bareboat chartering (can be found on the Sailors NYC website), log previous sufficient sailing experience, and demonstrate sailing skills according to internationally established sailing standards. The SLC is administered by NauticEd and Sailors NYC is providing practical assessment sessions for sailors who wish to obtain an international sailing certificate. Contact us for more information.

We’ve been feeling like a cargo ship. We made an sea to sea water fueling to our friends from @sailingzora. We’ve planned to go to the next port for some days and they wanted to stay and the lonely island. So they asked us for some water. No problem.
