SmallLadySerenity from the infamous place of elitist Sailor Moon fans aka sailormoonforum writes:
------------------- As much as I love, love, LOVE the trailer for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: Crystal, my enthusiasm in the past day or so has been dampened somewhat by the massive nitpicking by what seems to be a fairly sizable portion of the "fandom" (I use the term very loosely). I'm really disappointed by the reactions, to be honest. From the comments section of ANN's story on it, to the deepest crevices of tumblr and on to the youtube comments section....it's all been very disappointing. I've seen LOTS of wonderful comments or thoughts, but mostly it's been one big whine-fest of: "WHY ISN'T IT THE OLD ANIME?!?" If not this, then it's about their "proportions", their legs, arms, the heads, the eyes....the "dullness of the color" (WHAT?!) and so on and so forth. It's awful! I'm just feeling very enormously saddened by this massive outpouring of negative reaction. I mean, yeah, I know: opinions, right? Everyone is entitled to what they think, yeah? But come on. I see absolutely nothing wrong with their proportions. Or heads/eyes/legs/arms. I have zero problem with the color. (The complaints about the color just utterly floor me --- the colors are SO far from being "dull". They are VERY bright, incredibly vibrant and they just bring it all together ---- I don't understand how anyone can see it as being "dull". This one honestly bothers me a LOT.) From everything that I have seen -- that we have all seen -- is the fact that the characters are VERY obviously being animated to be MUCH closer to their manga likenesses. They are not fully "manga-fied", but they are so close it's incredible. The job that the art team has done is just stunning, with how close they actually did manage to get it to the manga. I do admit, however, the eyes are taking even me some getting used to. But everything else is just so gorgeous, that that is very easily overlooked. Again, I feel that the proportions are just fine. Long, elegant limbs, which were Takeuchi's trademark in the manga. The head...I have absolutely no idea why people are complaining about the head so much. When you look at the characters in full, their head is perfectly proportionate to the rest of their bodies. I'm sick of hearing about Mars' "broken ankle". Seriously. Do we not remember the final pose of Sailor Mercury from the original anime? Sailor Jupiter's pose? THOSE were broken legs. But dammit, they are OUR broken legs. I don't understand why it is suddenly such an enormous issue. Stylization, people. It's a thing. Plus, there's something known as "Angles"...ever hear of 'em? You take photos at different angles? Catch light at a different angle? I'm no professional artist myself, but I did used to draw QUITE a bit (even have a few art classes under my belt), and even with my limited knowledge, I can see the Crystal team's use of light and shadow. I can see their use of angles and proportions. And as I stated, what they've done with it is absolutely stunning and utterly gorgeous. I don't know. Honestly, I think that perhaps half of these people have probably never even read the manga, which I guess would be understandable, but....this is too much. ~ Small Lady Serenity via http://sailormoonforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=24842&st=0&sk=t&sd=a ------------------------
"Other people aren't agreeing with me, therefor they are not a Sailor Moon fan at all, heck, they're probably haven't even read the manga!" Is exactly what this person just said, and what many others are saying who are in favor of Sailor Moon Crystal. They spend countless hours "analyzing" or randomly guessing why people don't like the new anime style. 90% of the time, the best they can come up with is "Oh, they must not be true fans, because it's just so perfect! They just want to see the old anime! They aren't professional artists so they have no right to judge! Only my opinion matters!" So let me get this straight. They absolutely must love it because it's official? Naoko was heavily involved so it must be the greatest thing in the universe? If anyone disagrees with you it means they're not a fan and they're uneducated? Fascinating. It's funny. The FANS who dislike the new style are holding their ground and going in to vivid detail with either text, edits, or images as to why they feel the way they do about the new style. They give an explanation, without attacking anyone. I have never once seen someone say: "Oh, you like Sailor Moon Crystal? You're so ignorant, you're not a true fan." When I say fans, I mean;
fan
2 [fan] Show IPA
noun
an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.: a baseball fan; a great fanof Charlie Chaplin.)
I'm talking about people who have loved Sailor Moon since the 90s, watched the anime, watched the movies, read the manga, supported the franchise by purchasing collectibles, toys, dvds, cds, created fan sites, wrote fan fiction, drew fan art, all in their appreciation for the Sailor Moon that they love. The fact that they do not like this version of Sailor Moon does not make them any less of a fan. Who are you to even say that to someone? No one. You are no one. Fans like this disgust me, but I suppose this is what this blog is about. The Sailor Moon fandom and it's shining examples of why it's such a shitty community. Where do I stand on the general matter of SMC? I'm indifferent. I don't like it, but I don't dislike it. There are things I like, things I don't like. If my dislike outweighs the like at one point, all I simply have to do is not watch it and continue to love the old Sailor Moon anime and the manga...but I certainly will not tell anyone that their opinion is wrong. If you like it, I hope you love it, if you dislike it, I hope you find something else that you will love.

I made a thing, guys
LOL LOL LOL
"I COULD BE A CONGRESSMAN SOON"
Why are there neckbeards in this fandom.
So Why do people sign up for Sailor Moon communities when they don't even like Sailor Moon?
I wish a certain someone would let go of their petty grudge and stop impersonating Nangbaby on Sailor Moon Forum. It's over, and done with, and frankly it's heartbreaking to think this bully is so hateful and mad over petty bullshit.
