Another "down" day for sailplanes. Coming from California, I realize that almost everything (except truck driving) is "seasonal" (as in Summertime). Flying gliders in California is a 12-month deal. The weather is almost always VFR (you can see out the window). Plus, there is a lot of "atmospheric lift" over this semi-arid State. If the pilot has "skills", he (or she or they or them ..... there's this thing about pronouns) can stay "up", as long as the air around the glider is going up faster than the glider is going "down". The smartest "pilots" in the World today are hawks and seagulls, although albatrosses hold the World titles for longest distance traveled in a straight line, and longest airborne time for a single flight.
