How Does Skill Development Training Empower Women and Improve Their Livelihood Opportunities?
Skill development training plays a powerful role in transforming the lives of women, especially those from underprivileged communities. Many women in India are involved in informal or unpaid work, which limits their growth and financial stability. A well planned skill program gives them the chance to learn practical abilities, gain confidence, and move toward stable income opportunities. One such impactful initiative is the Sewing Machine Operator training provided by Sakshi NGO. Through this program, women learn stitching techniques, machine handling, workplace behaviour, and production skills needed in the garment industry.
Since its launch, the program has trained more than 500 women, with over 450 successfully placed in reputed garment units. Most beneficiaries come from economically weak backgrounds, where annual incomes are extremely low. This training helps women secure jobs, earn a steady monthly salary, and support their families. Beyond technical skills, they gain discipline, communication skills, and self reliance. Skill development not only empowers women but also strengthens families and contributes to the overall progress of society.
