AND I KIND OF LOVE THIS.
Especially because in the moment she DIDN’T HESITATE.
Sakura ACTED.
And action is something that has been robbed from her for most of the narrative. Finally, here in the worst world they’ve been to yet, she’s taken her agency back - and she’s using it. She is every bit the queen she was trained to be. She can think under pressure, assess the situation, and act accordingly. Her life was threatened and she shot the thing accurately and repeatedly to save herself.
But that doesn’t change her empathetic nature. Once the heat of the moment is over she feels all the regret and the sadness at having killed something so brutally - but it’s very important that this happens after. She is still who she is, but she doesn’t let this be her weakness or allow it to interfere with her survival. Her feelings are her strength, as they always have been, and there is nothing wrong with feeling the sadness that grips her in this moment - and even more so because she doesn’t let them super cede her life or the lives of everyone she is fighting to save.
And the sadness doesn’t last forever. She feels it, to her core, and she takes a moment to fully absorb it all. And then she moves on. She turns it into strength, because she is too strong to let this hold her back.
AND THERE SHE GOES.
