Prompt: Sasuke forgets her birthday

Sakura was popular, even if people didn't have already met her there weren't so many pink haired girls, who fit in her description. Which means the couple was used with the warm stares, the silent thank yous, to the random people initiating conversation. Again this was routine, especially if he wasn’t around, but today something was off. It couldn’t be something in his head, today these kind of events were out of hand, they barely couldn’t walk without getting interrupted, he gave up on walking side by side with her and as expected more people found their way towards the medic nin. Giving her a quick nod of his head the Uchiha went to the Hokage tower to make the final arrangements for their trip.

What he didn’t expect was for it to take the whole day. Figuring it was the time for her shift to end he waited for the pinket outside the hospital.

But she never came.

He checked her office, just to be told by one of the staff that she already had left, why hadn’t she waited for him to walk her, as always since he had come back. Deciding that maybe she could be at home, he checked there as well, and again he couldn’t find her. But at last now her mother, giving him a very strange stare, gave him her location.

And why would she be at a bar, on a sunday night?

“Nee Sakura-chan, why is the bastard taking you away from us? No, no Hinata-chan, I can’t be quiet about that, why are they supposed to have a honeymoon before they even get married? It's not fair!” Came the very loud voice of Naruto. Sasuke could only hear after a strange silence the sound of a body - probably the idiot's body - hitting the wall.

That was the scene he stepped into: Sakura holding her very clenched fist over her head, legs parted in a clear attack position, Naruto upside down against a wall with a probably broken nose, and the rest of the crew laughing, all of them blushed the clear reason of the empty bottle around them.

Slowly the prettiest women in the room turned to face him, and so all the eyes did the same. And damn hell she was perfect, when would he get used to her presence? Trying to not lose focus, he inquisity lifted an eyebrow at he, a bright smile was the only answer he got. Enough to raise his spirit and warm his heart, but nothing to clear the doubts in his head.

Before he could muter a proper question the other loud blond in Konoha entered the room. Holding nothing more than the largest cake we ever saw.

Oh fuck!

His brain processed the birthday commotion in slow motion, his body moved on it’s on, when he got back the control of both his mind and body Sasuke found himself sitting close to Naruto, who was filling more beer to their glasses, again.

“You forget, didn’t you?” Came the mocking from the soon to be Hokage.

He didn’t think the question needed an answer, no to him at least. So lifting himself Sasuke walked towards the birthday girl. Unlike his best friend, Sakura’s were smart and as soon as he got close they sensed the mood and left them alone.

“Sakura I’m so..”

“Don’t!”

She gestured for him to sit close to her.

“I’m not mad, not anymore. At first I thought you were teasing me, but after sometime I realised you had forgotten.”

Even if there were words to be said in this situation, except the apologies she already had cut, he wasn’t the one known to have them. Carefully he crushed his fingers to hers, and in response she adjusted her body to be closer to him.

“In fact, it became kind of funny, that even you couldn’t be that perfect. I assume that all these reports and research with Kakashi-sensei are getting you tired.” He gave the crown of her head a light kiss, as to assure that it wouldn’t happen again.

“Sasuke-kun to be honest I let go of foolish teenage fantasy with perfects couples and princes that never a mistake long ago, you have teached me that live in reality even with its flaws will always be better, cause in the real word i’m side by side with you, i don’t have to guess or imagine how you would react of how would we be, cause in the real word i can live and see how it really is. I mean you can always find a creative way to compensate!” She mocked him, blinking pretentious.

“As soon as we leave here” He whispered in her ear, watching the shiver run down in her body.

Pleased with himself, knowing that it was still time to offer her a birthday gift both of them could enjoy he used the warm atmosphere to ask her what she wished for I can’t say was the answer he got. As the evening went by and he could watch Sakura enjoying herself, smiling, laughing, dancing and when they were alone in his apartment he thought it was the best time to show her the one of the reasons that got him stuck in the Hokage tower.

“Sakura, I don’t want to rush you, or anything, but since we are leaving soon I thought that maybe if you wish, when you wish we would be prepared.” Fishing inside the dark cloak he presented her the forms. He waited in silence, watching her face lit up in surprise, her lips open a smile in happiness and her eyes get full of water in emotion. As soon as the wedding form was set on the table, he proceeded to give her his second gift.
