Many of us feel like life has torn us apart so many times that, at this point, we're just a stitchwork mess of things we've found that fit close enough.
Between the physical, emotional, and mental scars of experience, we may not even look the same as when we first started. Life is supposed to be messy, and it's expected to rip through us again and again; and as crippling as the pain may get, it strengthens our hearts. We can look back on our scars and say that we made it through... and show others that they can make it, as well.
Be proud of the beauty in your patchwork colors, of the scars and stitches - the evidence of your existence. You don't have to explain yourself or prove yourself to anyone. You live, and you are enough.
Made with Sakura Micron pens, Copic markers, Prismacolor Colored pencils, and final edits done with Photoshop.

Something a lot of people don't know about me is that I have difficulty about my hands... I have an inexplicable, pathological dysphoria related to how my hands look. I have a lot of body issues... A lot of self-esteem struggles and wishing I looked differently. Most of those are things I can fix (and am in the process of). But my hands are something I'll forever be stuck with. I've been having body image issues for as long as I can remember, but my small and chunky hands are what nag at me when I least expect them to. I hate modeling them for drawing...
I'm trying. I'm trying to work through a lot of things.
My hands can do great things. If I didn't have them, I couldn't draw... I couldn't write, or take photographs, or feel textures. My hands haven't seen as much as others' have, but they have experienced many things in this life, and have gotten me far. My hands cause me emotional grief, but they're bound to me. And with them I will feel and do many more things, like feel the entwining embrace of another... holding them and loving them, when I can't...
Made a character design for @cynusthewriter from his latest short story; wanted to hash out his overall design so that I could work on a cover art for it. Combination Prismacolor color pencils with Copic marker overlay.
