Hey! Hey okay who cares about who's sleeping with what and wearing who have you not heard about Sal's!?
Settle down, Daniel. We all knew this day would come eventually. The reign of Sal’s couldn’t go on forever.
So order up your last basket of grease dripping fries and say farewell to questionable refills.
This is indeed goodbye.
XOXO
Sal's Pizza - New Jersey Ave in Wildwood Crest, NJ
After my two lackluster Wildwood Boardwalk pizza experiences, I decided to venture out into the streets to try another slice that would hopefully redeem the first two. I headed south into Wildwood Crest to try Sal's, a highly rated spot on Google that was only a few blocks away from the motel my family stays in. When I arrived, I walked in and noticed the lack of specialties. There was a single plain pie in one of those round, tall, pizza holder things that they normally use to keep pies warm. However, this one wasn't on, so the guy asked me if I wanted it thrown back in the oven to heat up. I said yes and waited for my slice.
While I was waiting, I did notice some cool stuff about Sal's. Not only will they deliver to your motel, they will deliver to you on the beach. If that isn't good service, I don't know what is. Speaking of good service, the counter guy was super nice and made sure my slice came quickly. I wish I was more impressed when it came out though a minute or two later, because I would love to order some quality slices while I'm hangin' on the beach. This slice regrettably reminded me of the bland pepperoni pizza I had at Hot Spot Cafe only a half hour or so before. This slice once again tasted like absolutely nothing! However, it was even worse than Hot Spot. With that pepperoni, I still finished my slice no problem. With Sal's though I took a break for a couple of minutes when I was like 2/3 done and when I went back to finish my slice, I couldn't bring myself to do it, You KNOW pizza is whack when a pizza enthusiast such as myself can't even finish one measly slice. I will say that the crust was good though. Other than that, don't go out of your way for Sal's. It is definitely more conveniently located than any of the boardwalk pizza places if you just need a quick fix, but that's about it. Wildwood once again lets me down with its paltry offerings!
