Every time I watch mfb I feel the urge to redesign side characters so have a few quick designs

The Sodo Twins:
Honestly I’m not sure if these two are side characters in the same way the others are, they def are a little more important to the plot imo
Anyhow I just wanted an excuse to draw them lmao
My main goal for these guys was to differentiate their designs a little further and also make their colors feel more Yin and Yang
Also I added some fire and ice motives onto their belt buckles
Dan:
I thought it would be cool if the twins had more obviously different aesthetics, so I made Dan lean into a more elegant direction (I think it was the white opera gloves)
So I gave Dan earrings, white high heeled boots, hair in a ponytail and black lipstick
I fear in the process I might have invented trans femme Dan lmao
#congrats your a she/her now
Also I made the fully self indulgent decision to make Dan a little buff because drawing muscles has to be my favorite thing atm 😔
Reiki:
I tried to take a more “cool” approach with Reiki (I’m not cool at all so you gotta tell me if I succeeded lmao)
I gave him more of a tech wear aesthetic with super baggy cargos
I lowkey changed way less about him than Dan but ig I just like his Canon design a little more
OTA:
Osamu, Takashi and Akira were actually the reason I wanted to redesign side characters in the first place, I just think their designs are unfortunately very boring in canon :(
I mainly focused on making their colors feel palettes a little nicer and giving them some visually interesting clothing pieces
I thought it would be cute to incorporate the face bolt designs of their beys into their outfits since we obviously don’t actually see the beys in action much
(If your wondering about their beys:
O: found two sources for Osamu, one saying he uses Wind Wolf 145SF, one saying Wind Hydra 125FS, I went with Wolf but I’m not sure if that’s the right bey (lemme know if smo knows)
T: Clay Northern Cross 125FS
A: Heat Crow 145HF)
Also I gave them friendship bracelets cuz it’s precious <33
Osamu:
I really had to fix Osamu’s color pallet but other than that there wasn’t much to do
I made his button up be striped and gave him some sneakers for visual interest but that’s about it
Takashi:
I also didn’t change much about Takashi
I gave him a bit more of a preppy / nerdy style with a button up slacks and dress shoes
Also I wanted to give him glasses so badly but giving everyone glasses is actually my toxic trait so I restrained myself lmao
Akira:
I changed by far the most about Akira
Not sure what it was about him but he gave me major scene kid vibes so I indulged hahah
I gave him a racoon tail, baggy shirt and cargo shorts and also mismatched vans and fingerless gloves
Also I added orange and green to his color pallet for visual balance (and also just because these designs are def not colorful enough for my taste lmao)
Akira’s redesign definitely ended up as one of my favs I’m very happy w it :))
Sala:
Tbh I just decided to draw her because I gotta practice drawing younger kids and ngl I don’t actually like how this turned out all that much
I tried to make her outfit feel a bit more little girl while still keeping the active look from canon so I gave her a little flower hair clip, a cute collar and some ruffles on her shorts
The Dungeon Gym Bladers:
Tbh I could not figure out which of these guys is Oan, which is Brad and which is Bruce
Beyblade Wiki wasn’t helping and I even rewatched their first appearance but they aren’t introduced by name there
So I just assigned the names based on vibes, please correct me if I got them wrong!
These three were probably my favorites to redesign
Again I tried to differentiate their aesthetics and also their silhouettes cuz they lowkey all have the same height and body types
Brad:
I gave Brad balloon pants and converse and turned his collared shirt into a hoodie
I really tried to make his silhouette feel grounded and kinda heavy to contrast his fluffy hair and I really like how it looks
Oan:
Oan’s redesign is actually my favorite
Something about him gave me 70s vibes (I think it was the belt over shirt thing) so I leaned into that
I gave him bell bottoms with a floral design and referenced some actual 70s fashion for his belt buckle and shirt
Ig he’s a bit of a hippy now but that’s ok 🧡
Also I changed the shape of his afro just a little bit because Beyblade characters usually have super prominent shapes in their hair and I thought this way he’d look less like a plain background character
Bruce:
I thought it would be cute to make Bruce look a little softer and have his aviary / military jacket contrast that (I imagine he maybe got it from an older sibling or smth)
So I gave him a bit of a smaller, slimmer frame
Also oh boy was his original color palette a mess, I had to experiment a little to fix it but but I think it turned out well
Lastly I changed his bangs because way to many mfb characters have that exact bang shape (Hyōma, Tsubasa, Yu, Chi Yun - huh that’s my mfb top 4, what does that say about me?)
