Happy Anniversary to the first B+T clue
Five years ago a crazy journey started, and since then, life as we know it has never been the same!
Let us take you back. The year was 2016. Summer had just begun. The Roswell Fandom was literally roaring on social media through campaigns on Twitter to get a continuation of the Roswell series back on our screens with the original cast using the hashtag #Roswellback. The fandom was thirsty and only a revival of the original cast would quench its thirst.
On June 10th, Brendan Fehr kindly explained to a new fan on Twitter who had just discovered the Roswell series that the origin of the Roswell shipper name “Candy”: “Michael & Maria’s initials are M&M so that was kinda the original ship name and it eventually morphed into #candy.” Candy. Little did the fandom know that just around the corner in time, they would be getting Roswellback but in a whole new way. Candy was making a comeback with a twist. Candy 2.0.
A few days later, Roswell fans world-wide got crazy about a clue from the Twitter interactions between the former Roswell actors Majandra Delfino and Brendan Fehr.
Do you remember your pulse racing for excitement when the first clue about a specific candy reunion came about? In the midst after all the campaigning for Roswellback, likes and RT’s from some cast members happened but now with this clue from Majandra and Brendan, there was finally a concrete sign. Social media was buzzing!
The two actors lovingly teased their fans, giving hints about a mysterious hashtag #BandT?. Band T? B and T?
Majandra tweeted “1,2,3 – what is #BandT?“, on June 15, 2016. Her second clue followed eight minutes later, when she posted a sneak peek of a picture with the capture “1… #BandT?“.
The infamous Vasquez Rocks were recognized right away in the clues since they have been seen a lot in the series.
On the bottom right of the picture Majandra posted, fans could see a small piece of her face. A closer look indicated that it was definitely not a throwback picture. IT WAS A NEW ONE!
Brendan joined the fun some hours later and he seemed to know what this was all about. On Majandra’s question “1,2,3 – what is #BandT?“, he replied “(raises hand) #BandT? I know, I know!!!! It’s… oh sorry, phone is gonna die.
Candy fans and all Roswellians were truly enthusiastic over the cryptic yet exciting messages from our candy-coated duo. Everyone came up with some ideas, while the actors waited to share a second clue; a new piece of the puzzle.
So, “What is #BandT?”. Roswell fan Sarah suggested “is that “B and T” as in “Beauty & Tabasco” (code names for M & M? Lol) or “Band T” as in “The cool band I’m in”?” Other fun ideas included, “Banter and Tabasco”, Beer and Tabasco” (The new “Czechoslovakian” fave combo now that they'd be adults???) and Debby from RoswellBack added B&T… bewitching & tantalizing”.
It was still a mystery at the time...but soon the fandom would find out!
