Painful lesson learned

If you're going to use the neti pot, make sure your nose isn't bleeding.

I know it's saline, but the pain is intense.

I didn't warm the water, though, so that probably contributed to that, too.

I found it more difficult to do one side over the other, and I smell this smell that you sometimes have if you've blown your nose too much when you've had a cold. I put my name all over this thing just in case someone thinks they want to try it, or that they can just fill it up with average tap water... You need the same kind of water you put into a humidifier. Makes sense, I suppose; don't want to introduce anything harmful when your goal is to wash harmful things out.

True, it might not be for everyone. It can feel like a really strange thing and sometimes you don't have your head posed the right way (there is a right way and a wrong way, btw) or it goes down your throat or just gets backed up. I didn't get one side as well as the other side because of that.

I think it does the trick. It's supposed to help lessen the severity or onset of colds and allergy symptoms, and when there are people sick around me who I have to deal with and touch the same things they do, I get kind of crazy.

I just set up and started using my neti pot.

It's the weirdest sensation, but I do think this will help keep those pesky family germs at bay. But like I said, it's the weirdest feeling ever, and I keep smelling this smell... but I actually like it.

It's even better than using plain saline.
