Before the Beginning: three sentences (or more) about something that happened before the plot of my current project
Three sentences XD You know me. From volatile times.
“Do you remember what to do every night? Do you remember what I taught you about using the gun?” Shaan asks, throwing a piece of luggage in the back of the car. He looks over at Henry, notices the pallor on his face, the stubborn set to his jaw. “You are going to be fine.”
“And you?” Henry says through clenched teeth. “I should come with you.”
“You will be safer here, Sir.”
“Then stay here with me.” Henry grabs his arm, crumpling the sleeve of his jacket between his fingers. “You don’t have to go.” His eyes are wide, desperate, even if he won’t let it show in his voice.
Shaan sighs, placing a hand on top of Henry’s and giving it a comforting squeeze. “I need to do this. I need to see if we can make our way out of here and go back home. It is my duty to get you back to your family.”
“Your duty is to stay with me!” There it is. The waver in his voice. Shaan needs to calm him down before it gets too far. Before he actually manages to convince him not to leave.
“I will be right back. I promise.”
It hurts to leave him like this. But it’s his job to make sure Henry is okay, even if it means teaching him he can survive without him.
