Rapture by Blondie: this epic new wave rap slice of cultural exchange name checked Fab Five Freddy and Grand Master Flash and was a lining audio reflection of The Roxy NYCs legendary game changing night club that was one of the first homes of Hip Hop downtown. This ethos is what eventually brought rap music to white America and beyond. Blondie was so ahead of the curve with Debbies oft kilter rhymes and funky new wave backing track Debbie Harry and her husband Chris Stein the guitarist if the band created something unique and legendary. Chris also produced the music for Wild Style a next level piece of early Hip Hop mastery. Blondie were from the first wave of NYC Punk bands playing CBs with the liked of The Talking Heads, The Ramones and Television though at there core they were always a wonderful smart pop band. They had massive pop hits and a great live show. Debbie Harry was my pre teen celeb crush and then some. Shit she hosted the Muppet show thats how massive yhey were. This song is cool as hell and is the first example of Hip Hops influence in pop music pre dating Buffalo Girls bu a few seasons. Love this song and love Blondie one of NYCs all time best bands! #SaluteDebbieHarry #SaluteBlondie #MusicalAlchemy #SuperDiscoBreakin’ (at Miracle Mile, Los Angeles)
