favorite line/scene you wrote this year

He grits his teeth and glares up. “Fuck off,” he says, but his voice sounds tired even to him.

“Don’t move,” Taehyung breathes.

Yoongi fights the urge to curl back. “I can’t do this anymore I—what did you say?”

“Don’t. Move.” All the anger is gone from Taehyung’s face, and what’s left instead is something like raw wonder. There’s a slight upturn to his lips, now, and his arms are fidgeting at his sides like he doesn’t know what to do with them.

Swimming with confusion, all Yoongi can do is stay where he’s standing, and after the initial shock the glare settles back over his face, easy and natural.

He watches Taehyung watch him.

Taehyung’s eyes are brighter, lighter, gleaming even, under the harsh lights. They’re satisfied, Yoongi realizes. Satiated with whatever Yoongi is doing with his body right now, and Yoongi hadn’t even realized he was posing. Hadn’t been, really. Whatever this is, the tight coiled thing in his stomach, the hard line of his spine, the shock of hair he hadn’t realized had fallen in his line of vision, none of it is performance.

It’s all Yoongi, and Taehyung looks at it—at him—like it’s a marvel, like there’s something worthy in the wreckage of Yoongi’s anger.

This is def my fave thing i’ve written this year & this scene is like...the one thing i was building up to and looking forward to write starting out with it. Plus I’m very pleased at the emotions that managed to bubble out despite the whole hate to love thing. That last line is pretty choice if I do say so myself

What’s your favourite thing about doing nano?

the community aspect! like i know there’s jokes about writers going silent and occasionally rising to scream, but there’s usually a lot going on between other writers who are all doing it together, and the screaming togethr aspect of it makes what can be a very solitary hobby have a great community feel. there’s just something really neat about doing something intense and creative at the same time as an absurd amount of other people, i really enjoy it

Why did you pick your current project to work on this month?

i saw a man so beautiful it inspired me to cme up with an entire book project in the course of a day lol

I MEAN that’s definitely part of it but also this is the first time in four years that i am working on something other than sleeping gayly (even though i think i have finally, finally gotten sg’s plan ironed out lol) and the reason for that is that i just want to give myself a break from a project that i’ve spent so long....not succeeding at.

like i love and appreciate all the work and effort i’ve put into sleeping gayly, it is a project that has grown with me and grown bigger and better because of it, but the idea of doing something fresh and new and without any kind of baggage for my latest Actual Attempt at nano is really appealing

Is there any plot development that has surprised you so for?

lol the fact that i have a plot? honestly this book came together so quickly and so well that the entire project sort of bewilders me in the best way. i think probably the entire concept of ‘hey let’s try to kill god’ being the...point? of the book? wsa the best but also most holy shit I GUESS move of the whole process so far

3: Any guilty pleasures (books/fics)?i dont think i have shame anymore tbh but i used to really love daughters of the moon, wicca/sweep, psy-changeling, and patricia briggs’ series (until the misogyny got to be too much in the latter)

im also reading ilona andrews’ legacy series, which while not embarrassing in itself, has the most embarrassing covers

DOGGOS

i have always liked dogs because they are soft and delightful creatures, obviously, but it was in the more abstract sense? then mum and i got juno, who i not only love to distraction, but who somehow prompted in me an excessively large appreciation for...all....dogs.

like i will see a dog - any dog! - in the street and just grin because THAT’S A DOG LOOK AT THAT DOG (THAT DOG). i will pat and love any dog because all dogs are good dogs and i love and want to pat them.

       4:        What’s better (or the least bad): character over plot or plot over character?    

for me personally, character wins every time. which makes things EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT when attempting to write a book because you better believe i have no idea how to plot a bitch! but when reading i will always stick with a book for characters i love even if the plot is half assed, i will not do the same for vice versa

       14:        Do you have a go-to AU?   

UM good question, do i? i can’t really think of anything specific tbh, i mostly write AUs based on what people throw at my inbox and appeals to me in the moment, i am rarely driven to write AUs on my own these days

13. Describe your writing process

UH WELL. music is always involved, that is the main…commonality? i don’t write without music. no specific playlist, just stuff that i like but that isn’t so new i’ll get distracted listening to it.

when it comes to fanfiction, it’s almost entirely prompt based these days. i will very occasionally get original ideas but honestly even then i will scream at my friends about them until they just prompt me themselves. it’s just Real Good for me to be able to work within the parameters of a prompt, to start thinking about different takes on the words - it gives me a structure to work from that i really enjoy, and contributes greatly to my output. if i was working solely off my own ideas, there’d be a lot less fanfiction on this blog.

when it comes to original…..uh? i have no idea. more and more i have started going to cafe’s and writing on my phone with a bluetooth keyboard, or handwriting, and that’s been helping a lot. i find it a lot more difficult to write original fiction when the internet is Right There than it is to write fanfiction. probably because fics have a much shorter arc and i usually have the whole thing sitting in my brain as i’m writing, vs original fic where i am pretty much constantly lost.

23. Most anticipated upcoming books?

king of scars by leigh bardugo and something dark and holy by emily duncan, both in 2019. HONESTLY I HAVE NOT BEEN READING AS MUCH AS I WISH I WAS LATELY so i’m not Up and Hip with the Current Authors and Forthcoming Books like i should be.

40. Do you look up to any of your writer buddies?

whispers softly @sulienapgwien has some of the most gorgeous prose i’ve ever consumed and i am honoured and delighted every time i get to read something of hers, or she deigns to read something of mine.

and then just all of my writing friends who have fucking finished a draft. any draft. my heroes. how do they do it i will never fucking know.

for fic, exactly one. for original? infinity, apparently

50. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.

HMM i have given y’all jimena wildire, i have given you gay not-incest elves, i have given you harry potter the icarus, so i guess it’s time to talk about Lupa??

which was, if not my first fic ever, then at least one of the very first, so bad when i was about 14 years old. It started in Lily Evans’ 6th year and opened with her Best Frond Liberty Patil having been tortured into insanity by Death Eaters i guess???

lily can turn into a wolf, but isn’t an animagus. she is a descendent of morgana le faye, who is also hanging out in her head apparently. liberty patil is actually a death eater who is faking insanity to fuck with lily??? she has a brother called storm. voldemort really wants lily to join the death eaters because of her Power. Morgana and Salazar Slytherin were boning back in the day. James Potter exists and is in love with Lily, who is warming to him. Remus and Sirius are in manfeelings, but Sirius is also boning Dorcas Meadowes, who has an older brother called Gaylord. snape is in love with lily an entire year before deathly hallows came out i CALLED IT.

lupa was eventually renamed to For Truth, with planned sequel fics for 7th year and post hogwarts called For Love and Forever and you better believe i thought i was fucking clever.

i have no idea, but i got 54 chapters in before i stopped writing the thing
