Supernatural was never about “sexuality or romance”.
Except for when the entire plot of the most meaningful, gut-wrenching and well-written part of the story hinged on the main character falling head over heels for a demon, I guess. And except for that other one time the other main character lived with this woman for months, and she was later used against him because he cared so much. And except for every time the brothers had flings (with women), and also all the past girlfriends (also women) we knew by name and often saw on-screen. And except for all those other characters who were given room to say how their romantic relationships had changed, improved, or destroyed their lives (men + women, of course, we’re not savages). And except for all those other (bad) characters who used sexuality and romance to get what they wanted. And except for AU!father_figure snogging actual!mother because God forbid a woman lived on her own for too long. Except for fifteen years of queer subtext and gay-coded villains. And obviously except for Sam’s ‘undesirable’ deaf girlfriend and Sam’s ‘desirable’ blurry wife.
