I think I’ve figured out how to fix the beginning of Regardless. In the biggest plot twist, my editor has suggested I don’t keep cutting back the first 3 chapters to get to the plot quicker, and instead has mentioned Marnie jumps into things so quickly, she’s not had time to really think things through and effectively create attachments to the people she cares for. This is kinda key for when shit hits the fan, as I need an intense enough reason to send her back in time and losing these people needs to be a big deal for her.
Clearly my solution is to get her out of Crystal’s clutches way earlier (I’m talking years) and give Marnie the found family of clairvoyant stepmom and her two gay godfathers she deserves because what I’ve got currently isn’t working for me and never has.
