I imagine that the reason why Sam didn't recognize the name Jonathan Sims is because it was information provided by Celia and considering that he mentioned Gwen and Alice as his friends but not her and the phrase "I should have drunk the tea. It looked nice" (callback from MAGP012) I believe that he prefers to simply not think about her.

Yeah i dont think its super suspicious that Sam didnt recognize the name Jonathan Sims immediately. While it was connected to his Institute research, only tangentally so, and for all he knows the guy ended up having nothing to do with it. Also that was weeks ago and he's kinda had a lot happen since.

So i imagine it's like when people listen to tma and only realise after 4 episodes that, hey, this Gerard name pops up a lot, it seems familiar?

Probably somewhere in the next few Samisodes we'll get a convo where he's like. "wait, jonathan sims? as in jon sims? i thought that name rang a bell but i just remembered - Cel- a- a coworker mentioned that name too. Said she found it in our research..."

As an aside, why would Sams tea comment be a callback to magp12 specifically? Tea and esp coffee have been reocurring motifs throughout tmagp, with tea being associated with the primeline and coffee with the new dimension, so I view his comment in that light than as a reference to a specific moment.

As a bit of speculation, since he says it right after coming out of the portal and as he's losing consciousness, and later says that while in the portal he had a dream with Celia, [Georgie] and 'some other people he didn't know', I like to think he's talking about something or someone who offered him tea in that dream ;)

It's a working theory, but I firmly believe that The Archivist is actually Sam himself stuck in a time loop. Remember, Anya Villette didn't just travel to an alien dimension, she also regressed at least two weeks before the events of Hilltop Road. What if Sam is able to eventually return to his original universe but is randomly sent back to a time that doesn't match his own, before the Institute was destroyed perhaps?

Ooh, very interesting! personally i'm not really feeling it (i think there would've been some minor hint to point in that direction by now, or a case in which timetravel explicitly occurs, although there might have been one that i just forgot) but i definitely won't be upset to be wrong about that

So next season: split storyline between the OIAR under new management in universe B and the adventures of Sam and an Archivist in post-post-apocalyptic universe A, right? right???
